An Ohio nurse who lied to friends and coworkers about a terminal lung cancer diagnosis to scam them out of thousands of dollars in cash and gifts has been sentenced to two years in prison.

Tawni Fuller, a 34-year-old former nurse anesthetist at Ohio State University, pleaded guilty to theft and telecommunications fraud in October.

At a sentencing hearing Monday she was slapped with two years in prison with another three on probation and was ordered to pay $47,000 in restitution.

Fuller's elaborate scam was uncovered in August 2016 after she told the community that had showered her with sympathy and the employer that had offered her paid leave that she was cancer free.

In text messages exchanges obtained by the Columbus Dispatch, Fuller described her 'miraculous' recovery that 'boggled' her doctors.

During the trial, many of who testified against Fuller expressed their anger at the woman who duped them in part by wearing a headscarf and using a cane or walker.

One witness, Heather Gschnell, described Fuller as 'cunning' and a 'mastermind'.

Another, Tina Dalzell, recounted a time that Fuller had claimed to have seen her deceased husband in the afterlife during a 'near-death' experience while she was lying about being sick.

'Only a cruel, narcissistic person could watch me go through such pain and suffering,' Dalzell told the court.

'I am offended and disgusted that she mocked cancer patients.'

Carrie Malfatto, who drove Fuller to get pedicures, said: 'I spent hours crying about Tawni’s case and how I couldn’t make it better.'

She added: 'This person’s moral compass is broken.'

Fuller previously admitted to the Ohio Medical Board of Nursing that she falsified her condition, placing the blame for her actions on depression, according to Fox28.

During her sentencing hearing Fuller apologized to those she'd wronged.

'I was suffering — so stuck and lost that I couldn’t get out,' she said. 'I never wanted to hurt any of you.'

Delaware Common Pleas Judge Everett Krueger, however, was not convinced.

'It’s almost evil what I heard today. It’s just plain evil,' he said.

'It’s just like nothing I’ve ever heard in all the years I’ve been doing this.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
