«Breaking News» Monica Lewinsky overcame her Clinton affair shame to win hearts with a career based on anti-bullying

Monica Lewinsky's new docu-series begins Sunday with the woman famed 20 years ago for having an affair with then-President Bill Clinton revealing how her life changed in 1998.

While the 45-year-old has been largely quiet since battling criticism from the scandal that occurred when she was a 22-year-old intern at the White House, Lewinsky has managed to turn things around, especially in the wake of the #MeToo movement.

Formerly a disliked figure, Lewinsky has perhaps now more so than ever been afforded the sympathy of a victim.

Aside from getting her view across in the 20 hours of interviews she participated in for the A&E show, The Clinton Affair, her name has attracted attendees at conferences about shame and bullying across the world.

A source told The New York Post it has been her main source of income.

An insider at the A&E network said she wasn't directly paid for her interview, but was paid photo-licensing fees for images used in the series.

'Now she's feeling, like, "Wait a second. Why is the calendar and cycle of my life dictated by the cycles of the Clintons' lives?"' David Friend, Lewinsky's editor at Vanity Fair, told The New York Post about her new outlook on approaching opportunities.

She wrote in her column for the magazine that was published Tuesday how 'Bill Clinton should want to apologize' for abusing his position, adding she regrets publicly referring to the 1995 to 1997 relationship as consensual in 2014, the year she started her column.

'His reason: 'Because I could.' (And, yes, that's a direct quote),' she wrote this week referring to Clinton's 2004 interview with Dan Rather.

Now in the #MeToo era, she added: 'He was my boss. He was the most powerful man on the planet … He was, at the time, at the pinnacle of his career, while I was in my first job out of college.'

It's a massive turn-around for the Lewinsky who regularly shielded herself from the public eye and was careful about talking of the former first family of the United States.

A year after she started her column, the first one in which she expressed how the Clinton scandal ruined her life, her TED talk on The Price of Shame went viral.

The Post reports how when her editor Friend told Clinton supporter George Soros' son Robert Soros, he was taking Lewinsky to their Manhattan benefit in 2014, she was surprisingly more than welcome.

'Robert said, 'Not only do I not give a s**t, you must bring her,' Friend told the publication about changing views toward Lewinsky.

It hasn't been easy staying strong in the public glare though; Lewinsky toned down her appearances when Hillary Clinton announced she was running for president in April 2015.

Lewinsky was back to boldly criticizing those who ostracize her in favor of the Clintons this May however.

When she was uninvited from the Town & Country Philanthropy Summit because Bill Clinton was confirmed to speak, she blasted the decision on Twitter writing: 'dear world: please don't invite me to an event (esp one about social change) and --then after i've accepted-- uninvite me because bill clinton then decided to attend/was invited. it's 2018. emily post would def not approve.Me.'

Friend told The Post: 'She [has] decided, I think . . . to just take charge of her own timetable — to use her own phrase, [she wanted] "to control her own narrative".'

Lewinsky has even managed to control intrusion into her personal life by keeping a tight circle of friends.

Exceptions include an outing to Alan Cumming's New York nightlife spot Club Cumming for her birthday this July, where she even performed Somewhere Over the Rainbow in front of the crowd which sang Happy Birthday back to her.

In May she was spotted getting off a plane from Los Angeles to New York with a potential love interest.

Maintaining a low-key life seems to have won her more support and respect.

'Anytime I'm anywhere with her, someone comes up and tells her how incredible the work she's done these past few years has been — how it allows people to confront their bullies or to deal with shame,' the source shared. 'She's empowered other people.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
