The three-quarter sheath hugged her figure and featured a pencil skirt that ended right at her knees.
The back of the dress had a silver zipper that stopped mid-thigh, leaving a small slit.
She wore her long highlighted brown hair loose around her shoulders, and she sported a flattering nude lip.
Melania topped off her elegant look with a pair of Christian Louboutin patent leather pumps that let the color of her dress pop.
The first lady and president both had small closed-lip smiles on their faces upon their arrival at the ceremony.
The two continued to hold hands as they entered the East Room, with Trump stopping to wave at the attendees.

Acting-Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross, and Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson were among the attendees.
'The Presidential Medal of Freedom has been given to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to American life and culture. This year it is my true privilege to award this honor to seven extraordinary Americans.' the president told the attendees.
Recipients included doctor and Republican Party donor Miriam Adelson, the wife of Las Vegas casino magnate Sheldon Adelson. The Adelsons have donated millions to Trump and the GOP in recent years.
The president also recognized Sen. Orrin Hatch, one of the longest-serving Republican senators in U.S. history.

Hatch is retiring in January after more than 40 years, and Trump called him a 'great friend' who 'liked me right from the beginning and therefore I like him.'
Trump posthumously honored Elvis Presley, Babe Ruth, and Antonin Scalia, the conservative Supreme Court justice.
'Joining us for this ceremony is [Scalia's] wife, Maureen — who has become a great friend of my family, myself — and their nine children,' Trump said before naming each of her children.
'You were very busy, wow. Wow. I always knew I liked him,' the president joked.
One of Presley's songs played during the ceremony, but Trump expressed disappointment when it stopped after just a few seconds.
He recalled attending one of the singer's performances decades ago, explaining that overexcited fans were 'ripping the place apart, screaming. They were going crazy.'
To calm the crowd, an announcement was made that 'Elvis has left the house,' he said, joking that if 'they didn't say that I think I would still be there — maybe I wouldn't be here.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
