«Breaking News» Melania packs 'comfort kits' for troops as president mulls his first overseas war-zone visit

Melania Trump packed care packages for U.S. troops at the Red Cross on Tuesday and expressed her sorrow for soldiers killed in Afghanistan - gestures of comfort that come amid questions about when President Donald Trump will make his first overseas visit to the troops.

'Today's tragic news out of Afghanistan only drives home the need to support the men and women in our military and their families. We lift up the families affected by this terrible loss,' she said.

Three U.S. soldiers were killed Tuesday in Afghanistan. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the bombing that resulted in the largest loss of American lives there this year.

'Our continued prayers remain with all our troops as we come together this morning to support our Armed Forces,' Melania Trump said.

'I am very thankful for the men and women in uniform who sacrifice daily to protect not only the American people but our freedoms and way of life,' she noted.

'To the mothers, fathers, husbands, wives, brothers, and sisters who will be away from home as they answer duty's call-  we thank you for your service,' the first lady said.

President Trump is said to be mulling his first visit to a war zone as he's coming under increased scrutiny for not yet visiting troops stationed in Iraq or Afghanistan.

Trump hinted to reporters on Thanksgiving Day his first visit could come soon.

'We're going to do some interesting things. We'll be doing some very interesting things,' he said.

But when asked by reporters when he was going, the president replied: 'I do. But I can't tell you. You're the last people I can tell.'

While the White House mulls travel plans, the first lady joined second lady Karen Pence and other wives of Cabinet members to pack up care packages on Tuesday morning.

We stand with you and extend our wishes for a joyous Christmas and happy New Year,' the card read with the signatures of Melania Trump and Karen Pence at the bottom.

The first lady encouraged all Americans to join in volunteer activities.

'These comfort kits are one small way that we can say thank you and honor the sacrifices that members of the military make year around, and I encourage people everywhere to consider participating in acts of service such as volunteering during this holiday season,' she said.

She also mentioned she and President Trump had unveiled the White House Christmas decorations on Monday and held a reception that night for the volunteers who decorated 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

'As many of you may have seen, the President and I unveiled the Christmas decorations at the White House yesterday and held the first of many holiday receptions to thank volunteers,' she said.

'This is such a wonderful time of year and we are honored to open the White House to the public so that families from all over the country can enjoy the decorations,' she added. 'As we begin this Christmas season, which traditionally means spending time with loved ones, I believe we should also take time to remember all that we are thankful for as a Nation.'

‘Today’s ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
