«Breaking News» Kelsey Merritt reveals the EXACT makeup look that helped her land the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

Kelsey Merritt has revealed the natural-looking makeup routine that not only keeps her looking flawless each day but also helped her nab a highly-coveted spot on the Victoria's Secret catwalk this year.

Less than a week after the 22-year-old model made history by becoming the first Filipino model to walk in the lingerie brand's show, she is sharing her step-by-step beauty regimen with Vogue.

Kelsey was born and raised in the Philippines, and in the nearly nine-minute clip she opens up about the effect her casting had on other members of the Filipino community.

'It means a lot to me and the people back home because they love Victoria's Secret so much and they've always been wanting a Philippine model to walk the show,' she explains.

'It’s not just success for me — it’s also success for them.'

While her everyday makeup look is similar to the one she wore for her casting, she admits that she might have had on more products than she normally wears.

'I kind of put [on] too much makeup, but I wanted to look my best,' she says.

Kelsey begins her routine by mixing moisturizer and sunscreen - both of which are from high-end brand La Mer, where a broad spectrum SPF 50 is priced at $95, while a facial moisturizer costs a whopping $325 - to prep her skin, explaining that 'skincare is so important.'

She also happily points out that she - like anyone else - suffers from blemishes and zits, even taking the time to highlight the places where she can see some pimples.

'I'm breaking out. That's totally normal,' she admits. 'That is what makeup is for.'

The model stresses that she always wears sunscreen because there are UV rays everywhere — even indoors.

As for moisturizer, she uses different kinds depending on how her skin is feeling.

'Just listen to your skin and see what it needs,' she says, noting that she also loves to rub coconut oil all over her body.

If she has time the night before, she extracts some aloe from her aloe plant and rubs the gel on her scalp and the dry parts of her hair.

That isn't Kelsey's only at-home spa trick.

She also uses a wet washcloth to exfoliate her dry lips before adding lip balm; her current favorite lip product is the $19 Image Skincare Ormedic Balancing Lip Enhancement Complex, which she praises for its 'amazing' smell, while noting that it 'gives you a little gloss', which she 'loves'.

When it comes to her foundation, she does break the rules a bit.

'I love looking bronzed, and, you know, sun-kissed, so I usually use a shade darker than my skin tone and I blend it out,' she says.

Kelsey has no problem using her hands to apply her Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation ($42), and she takes great care to make sure her freckles are still visible because they are her 'favorite part' of her face.

She opts not to use face powder because she doesn't want her face to look cakey, explaining: 'I like it to look like [my] skin, and usually when I put powder [on], it looks cakey on me.'

Instead, she moves straight on to contouring, which she notes is one of her favorite steps of her makeup routine.

For this, she uses the Charlotte Tilbury Beach Stick in Ibiza ($45) - which is actually another nod to the Victoria's Secret show, because British makeup artist Charlotte was the person behind all of the models' glowing beauty looks.

The model applies the contour stick to the hollows of her cheeks, her hairline, and her jaw in thick lines, joking that it 'looks bad now' but will end up looking more normal once she's blended it out with a brush.

'I just think having a little color on your skin makes you look healthier,' she notes.

Kelsey once again points out some of her pimples, which she uses concealer to cover up, while also explaining that she likes to apply plenty of conceal under her eyes to brighten them, revealing that she uses the Glossier Stretch Concealer ($18) because 'the finish is really sheer... and I like it to look like I don't have anything on'.

At one point she brings out her 'heavy-duty concealer' for one blemish that she was struggling to cover up, managing to make it look just 'like a freckle' with her stick concealer.

After applying all of her liquid makeup products, she adds powder blush - the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush ($29) - on the apples of her cheeks and her nose using a brush from Nars.

Kelsey says she learned a lot of tricks while watching professional makeup artists get her ready for shoots and runway shows.

She admits she is bad at doing eye makeup, so a makeup artist taught her that the easiest way to apply eyeshadow is to 'start in the middle and work your way up.

The model uses a brown-toned cream shadow that is part of the Tom Ford Cream and Powder Eye Color in Naked Bronze ($62).

Next up is bronzer and highlighter, which give her a healthy glow. Once again Kelsey turns to a product from Victoria's Secret Fashion Show makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury, pulling out her Filmstar Bronze & Glow ($68) to give herself a healthy glow.

Trick of the trade: Kelsey also reveals that she keeps her hair in a low bun all day, so when she takes it down, it is curled

'So, I'm in a makeup chair a lot, and I love observing what makeup artists put on my face, so a lot of the things that I'm doing I learned through watching them,' she says of her highlighting technique, explaining that she has been taught to apply the product to her cupid's bow, the length of her nose, and on the high points of her brow bone.

Kelsey has naturally thick brows and all she does is brush them up with brow gel, explaining that she has been told by makeup artists that her 'Asian genes' means that her eyebrow hairs naturally grow downward, so she counteracts that with the gel.

'I curl my eyelashes every single day [but] I get scared doing this cause I've clipped myself a couple of times already' she admits.

Although she skips eyeliner, she does apply a few coats of Maybelline's Volum' Express The Falsies Mascara ($6.99) to her lashes.

Towards the end of her routine, she sprays her skin with the Caudalie Beauty Elixir face mist ($49).

'I feel like this just makes my skin look hydrated,' she gushes.

Kelsey also reveals that she keeps her hair in a low bun all day, so when she takes it down, it is curled.

After completing her look with a nude lip from Charlotte Tilbury's K.I.S.S.I.N.G. collection ($34), she reveals the easiest way to take her look from day to night is to add some glitter eyeshadow - the powder product from the same Tom Ford duo she used earlier in her routine.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
