«Breaking News» Kate and Meghan dazzle in diamonds at Charles' 70th birthday

The Duchess of Cambridge and the Duchess of Sussex dazzled in show-stopping diamond earrings for Prince Charles' birthday celebrations at Buckingham Palace last night.

Kate, 36, and Meghan, 37, both pulled out all the stops and selected some of the most sparkly jewels in their collections as they toasted their father-in-law's 70th, surrounded by friends, family and European royalty.

Princess Beatrice, 30, also opted for eye-catching earrings, sporting a pair with a dramatic spiral design encrusted with sapphires and diamonds.

But her sister Princess Eugenie, 28, who has recently returned from honeymoon with husband Jack Brooksbank, appeared to miss the memo and arrived in a much more low-key pair.

Meghan was equally sparkling in 'borrowed' diamond drop earrings, recently seen at an official reception in Fiji during the royal tour, although Kensington Palace have not revealed the original source

Resplendent in a sherbet pink dress, Kate opted for a pair of drop earrings featuring a pear shaped central stone surrounded by diamonds, which she previously wore to the BAFTAs in 2017 and the 100 Women in Hedge Funds dinner in 2011.

They've never been identified as belonging to a particular brand, but they're thought to be part of the Duchess' own collection, rather than a loan from the Queen.

Pregnant Meghan was equally sparkling in diamond drop earrings, recently seen at an official reception in Fiji during the royal tour.

At the time, Kensington Palace said they were borrowed but refused to confirm if they had come from the royal family's collection.

Meghan arrived alongside Prince Harry who looked dapper in a tux and took to the wheel to drive his pregnant wife to the party.

A host of European royals will gather tonight to celebrate Charles' landmark 70th birthday.

Despite official details being kept under wraps, kings, queens, princes and princesses from across the continent are expected to descend on Buckingham Palace for a glittering banquet held in Charles' honour.

The guest list is shaping up to be suitably gilded, with a spate of royals set to hobnob with the likes of the Queen along with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Denmark's royal household has confirmed to MailOnline that Crown Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik will be attending on behalf of the Danish royal family.

And in a stellar turnout for the Norwegian royals, King Harald, Queen Sonja, Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit will also be at Charles' birthday bash en masse, they announced this week.

The Grand Duke and Grand Duchess of Luxembourg will also be attending tonight, along with Belgium's King Philippe and Queen Mathilde.

The Prince of Wales, pictured in Ghana last week, will receive a host of European royals for his birthday tonight. It was revealed in September that invitations had already been sent out

The Serbian Royal Court has indicated that the royal family have received an invitation but did not reveal whether or not they would be attending.

Incidentally, Crown Princess Katherine of Yugoslavia also celebrated her birthday this week, turning 75 on Tuesday.

Royal Central reports that the Swedish royals - King Carl Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel - will not be attending due to a prior engagement.

Sweden's most senior royals are hosting a state visit from Italian President Sergio Mattarella between 12 and 15 November.

Tonight's soirée will see hundreds of guests enjoy a reception followed by a lavish dinner, most likely in Buckingham Palace's opulent state rooms, with details kept strictly under wraps ahead of the big night.

It was revealed in September that invitations had already been sent out by the Queen, who is hosting the celebrations and is set to deliver a short speech.

As personal friends of Charles and Camilla, it is thought to be 'highly likely' that Norway's royal couple will attend.

Spain's King Felipe VI is visiting Guatemala today, meaning the royal household is unlikely to be making an appearance tonight.

The Dutch royals recently travelled to London for an official state visit to the UK, but are also unlikely to join the celebrations tonight after Queen Máxima was spotted carrying out engagements in The Hague on Wednesday morning.

MailOnline has contacted Buckingham Palace and the Spanish Royal Household for comment.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
