«Breaking News» Joe Swash rushed to hospital after a cockroach gets STUCK inside his ear

Joe Swash was rushed to A&E after discovering a cockroach had burrowed itself in his ear.

The I'm a Celebrity... Extra Camp star revealed he had suffered every campmates' worst nightmare after one of the creepy crawlies plotted up inside his ear canal on Sunday, shortly after Joe had wrapped up filming the live spin-off show.

What's more, the ex EastEnders star was left horrified when Australia doctors told him he would have to wait an additional 24 hours to see a specialist because they were unable to retrieve the insect.

Despite the hellish ordeal, Joe seemed relatively upbeat as he documented his hospital trip on Instagram Stories.   

He enthused: 'So, we're just on the way to the hospital to get a cockroach sucked out of my ear. All the perks of this job, eh!'

With the shock slowly setting in, Joe shared a follow-up clip in which he bemoaned: 'Just walking up to the hospital. Still can't quite believe that I've got an animal that's living in my ear-roll.

'Don't make yourself at home son, because you're coming out!'

And after telling fans he had endured a long wait in the hospital before being seen, his misfortune continued as he revealed doctors were unable to remove the insect and referred him to see a specialist the following day.  

He explained: 'Just got out the hospital. Doctor said they can't get the cockroach out my ear. I've got to see a specialist tomorrow so they can use some special equipment on it.'

While Joe didn't divulge exactly how the insect managed to sneak into his ear, entomologists have previously explained that the orifice provides the perfect living conditions for the bugs - who are also attracted to the scent of earwax. 

Once the cockroach makes its way inside the ear, people instinctively scratch the area, subsequently pushing the roach in deeper inside the ear canal. 

Some cockroaches can survive the scratching, with species such as the German cockroach able to live for about a week without food and water. However, it's more common for the scratching to squish the bug, which can be even more dangerous as their ruptured bodies are full of bacteria that can cause infections.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
