«Breaking News» Brother of missing Navy veteran appeals for information on anniversary of her disappearance

The brother of a missing Navy veteran is appealing for new information on the tenth anniversary of her Thanksgiving disappearance.

Taveta Hobbs vanished without a trace in November 2008, leaving behind her car, diary, computer, jewelry, and glasses.

The 44-year-old never even picked up her last paycheck.

Taveta's husband Phil Hobbs has maintained that she packed up all her things one night and decided to move from their North Carolina home to Burbank, California.

But Taveta's family haven't heard from her since, and police say there is little evidence to suggest she is still alive.

Taveta and her younger brother, Clinton Crier, were extremely close while growing up.

'She was a sweetheart,' he told NBC's Dateline. 'We had a huge love for each other because I was her younger brother and she really looked after me.'

They grew apart after Taveta joined the Navy in 1982 and began moving around a lot, but the siblings still talked on the phone whenever they could.

But everything changed in 2007, when the pair had a fight during a family gathering.

'It was a stupid argument,' Crier recalled. 'And some other frustrations boiled over.'

The siblings stopped speaking frequently and thus a few months went by before Crier realized he hadn't heard from his sister in months.

In December 2008, Crier called Hobbs to see how she was doing. That's when he found out she had disappeared over Thanksgiving.

Crier said he had never heard his sister discuss plans to move back to California, where he also lives.

Hobbs told Crier that she had left behind her car and taken a small amount of money. The story struck him as strange.

'She loved that car, and she wouldn't have just left it,' he said. 'None of it sounded right.'

Crier kept in touch with Hobbs through the new year to see if Taveta had gotten in touch. In October 2009, he filed a missing person report with the Wake County Sheriff's Office. The Raleigh Police Department is now working on the case.

Authorities discovered that the last correspondence anyone received from Taveta was a text sent from her phone to her boss at Salesforce on November 24, 2008.

The text read that she was quitting her job.

'The text came from her phone. As to who sent that text? That's still a question that we have,' said detective Eric Gibney.

'Her boss would definitely say that her quitting was not foreseen as coming. She was very happy in her profession. For her to up and quit randomly is kind of suspicious.'

Taveta's phone was not used again after that final text.

Investigators canvassed neighborhoods and reached out to Taveta's friends, but struggled to find out more information due to her small social network.

'It was hard to find anyone who had intimate details of what happened behind closed doors with her,' Gibney said.

The case remains open and the Raleigh Police Department has not disclosed if there are any suspects or persons of interest.

But authorities have little hope that Taveta is still alive today.

'As of right now, this very moment, there is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that she is alive,' Gibney said.

'It's very difficult for us to believe that Taveta just voluntary said "I'm leaving" and just disappeared without a trace. She didn't have the financial means to disappear.'

To this day, Crier regrets that last big fight he had with his sister.

'I want justice,' he said. 'I don't think my sister is alive. I want her to be alive. I love her and I miss her. I want the person who did this to be held accountable.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
