It's not looking good for the iPhone XR.
Longtime Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo cut his forecast for iPhone XR shipments by 30 million units, signaling weak demand for the budget handset, according to MacRumors.
Kuo now expects Apple to ship 70 million iPhone XR units during the holiday quarter, down from his original forecast of 100 million units.

Longtime Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo cut his forecast for iPhone XR shipments by 30 million units, signaling weak demand for the budget handset in the upcoming holiday quarter
'We have reduced our iPhone XR shipment estimation from 100mn units to 70mn during the new product lifecycle (4Q18 - 3Q19),' Kuo said in a note to investors.
He gave three reasons for his lowered forecast, citing negative impacts on consumer confidence from the Chinese-American trade war.
What's more, consumers may prefer the slimmer bezels and improved cameras on the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Plus.
Kuo believes consumers could also be waiting for Apple to release a cheaper iPhone XR.
Still, he said more consumers may be opting to purchase the higher-end iPhone XS models or the lower-end iPhone 8 model instead.
On top of that, Kuo believes Apple may be facing increased competition from Huawei's Mate 20 smartphones, which are popular in China and other overseas markets.

At its iPhone launch event in September, Apple introduced the lower-cost iPhone XR, made of aluminum, along with two other models, the XS and XS Max.
The firm hoped the iPhone XR would persuade owners of older iPhones to switch to the newer model, which costs $749 (£749) - a sizable discount from the $999 iPhone XS and the $1099 XS Max.
The iPhone XR began shipping on October 25th and, since then, has been mired with speculation of weak sales.
These fears were stoked even further after Apple announced it would no longer break out exactly how many iPhones it sells in its financial results.
Analysts interpreted the move as an indicator that Apple may have 'something to hide.'
On a call with investors, CEO Tim Cook said the firm had 'very, very little data' on iPhone XR sales, in contrast to the iPhone XS and XS Max which he said were 'off to a really great start.'
Moves from several Apple suppliers have also given credence to rumors of poor iPhone XR reception.
Lumentum and Japan Display, which produce facial recognition tech and LCD displays, respectively, scaled back their forecasts on Monday.
Neither firm mentioned weak iPhone demand in their reasoning, but analysts speculate that it could be the driver.
Apple accounted for half of Lumentum's revenue in its December quarter in 2017, while the iPhone is expected to represent 50 percent of Japan Display's revenue this year, according to the Wall Street Journal.
That's on top of a negative report from the Nikkei Asian Review, which said Apple told iPhone assemblers Foxconn and Pegatron to stop plans for additional production lines of the iPhone XR.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
