«Breaking News» Fans mock Idris Elba doll for looking nothing like Hollywood star (despite being priced at £850)

An £850 Idris Elba doll handcrafted by a British manufacturer has been mocked on social media after fans said it looked nothing like the Hollywood star.

Dressed in a suave suit, the muscly plastic tribute almost captures the essence of the British actor - but the doll's 'evil' eyes and bald head have left many questioning what the maker, specialist doll makers Emperis, were thinking.

Elba was recently voted People Magazine's 'sexiest man alive' - but fans were not convinced the £850 doll really resembled the hunk from London.

Stunned Twitter users said they believed the creation looked more like American actor and Weeds star Romany Malco.

Others said the attempt at mirroring the actor, 46, was as bad as the infamous 'Cristiano Ronaldo statue' - the bust at Madeira Airport ridiculed for being nothing like the footballer.

Some said the doll should be altered.

Tana Hargest said: 'This is supposed to be an Idris Elba doll.

'Instead, it looks like Ming the Merciless, aka Blax von Sydow.'

Another said: 'Wait that was supposed to be Idris Elba? somebody needs to fix that.'

A woman named Court was among the first to spot the doll with her tweet being liked thousands of times.

She wrote: 'This doll is supposed to be Idris? Somebody getting fired.'

Another user added: 'Somebody made a Montel Williams doll and trying to pawn it off as Idris Elba.'

The £850 Idris doll was made by UK firm the Emperis which has also made models of stars such as Cher and Freddie Mercury.

Sales have apparently been successful for the company which said only two dolls are remaining with the rest of the stock having been sold already.

Emperis was established in 2010 and is marketed as the firm behind the 'only handcrafted ball joined doll that is not only designed but also made in England'.

The firm says online: 'We have been making handcrafted fine art and fashion dolls since 2010. This has allowed us to turn our passion into a business but also transformed into a special kind of art form.

'Together with sculpting skills and fashion design, it has given us an independence to express our sense of fashion and style, making us truly a powerhouse in the doll world'

Elba, 46, has been tipped for a while to become the next James Bond.

The actor is yet to speak out on the rumours but teased fans when he performed a DJ set in London over the summer at Elrow, when he appeared on the stage playing the 007 theme tune.

Representatives for Idris Elba have been asked to comment, as well as Emperis.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
