Hollyoaks star Stuart Manning has admitted he was 'gutted' to his character killed off the Channel 4 soap just months after he returned.
The actor, 39, took to Twitter to share a video after the dramatic scenes aired on Thursday night, saying it had been 'an amazing three months' and he 'didn't really want to die'.
The nail-biting episode saw his alter-ego Russ Owen brutally killed off on his own wedding day after he was exposed to cheating on wife Mercedes McQueen (Jennifer Metcalfe) with her own cousin Goldie McQueen (Chelsee Healey).

Hollyoaks fans were left reeling following Thursday's hour-long special, as kindly barmaid and Goldie's mother Breda McQueen (Moya Brady) was exposed as a serial killer, who bludgeoned the multi-millionaire businessman to death.
Speaking on a video posted to his Twitter page, he said: 'It's been an amazing three months, the best time of my life working on Hollyoaks.
'I've met some of the most amazing people and worked with some of the most amazing people, cast and crew. Thank you to all you guys for being so amazing over the past... lots of years.
'But now I'm gone. Russ has been killed. So I don't know what to say, apart from thank you. I'm going to miss everyone.

'I'm a bit gutted, to be honest. I didn't really want to die. But there you go. Anyway, I hope you all enjoyed the hour episode. There's lots more to come'.
Taking to Twitter, fans of the Channel 4 soap gushed about the heart-stopping twist which saw Russ bludgeoned to death after his wedding ended in disaster.
Breda was later revealed to be the culprit - despite Mercedes being falsely arrested for the crime - it was also revealed she was also behind the deaths of villains Carl Costello and Glenn Donovan.
The episode was nothing short of dramatic with Russ' infidelities with Goldie McQueen were exposed, as Mercedes discovered he had been unfaithful mere seconds after they were declared husband and wife.

To add fuel to the fire it was revealed Goldie was pregnant with Russ' baby, and while he demanded she have a termination, it remains to be seen whether she went through with the procedure.
As Mercedes was left devastated by her marriage once again falling to pieces, Russ was hit over the head in the workshop by a mystery assailant.
Inevitably his scorned wife was swiftly arrested for the crime - but the episode's closing revealed that the culprit was in fact quiet-mannered Breda (played by Moya Brady).
In a toe-curling closing scene, Breda revealed she had taken a button from Russ' wedding suit and sewed it into a doll, which she then presented to his two young sons.

It was a mind-blowing twist no Hollyoaks fan saw coming, leading many to take to Twitter and share their disbelief.
One wrote: 'The plot twist at the end of #Hollyoaks tonight was brilliant! Is it weird that I love Breda even more now?'
Another added: 'Shook at Nana Breda being a serial killer!'
Despite this being her sixth attempt down the aisle, Mercedes' big day ended in catastrophe, finding out Russ had impregnated Goldie.
Mercedes looked stunning in a fitted white fishtail gown as she made a dramatic walk down the aisle for the long-awaited big day.
Thinking about her future with Russ, the moment was intertwined with flashbacks from her previous weddings, including the moment she and Russ tied the knot for the first time almost ten years ago.

But her expression hardened when she saw Joel was to oversee the nuptials, as she still believes he was the one responsible for Goldie's pregnancy.
Getting through the vows, Mercedes' anger finally snapped the second she and Russ are declared man and wife, furiously punching Joel to the ground before announcing to the guests that he had slept with Goldie.
This lead to a furious brawl with Mercedes screaming in horror as the entire family proceeded to lash out.
It was Myra McQueen who brought a stop to the chaos, figuring out that a conversation she overheard between Russ and Goldie about 'getting rid of something' was in relation to her unborn baby.

Revealing the truth the everyone including Mercedes, the fiery brunette screamed in her husband's face that their marriage was over before storming out of the church.
Fans will have to wait and see how the fallout will affect Mercedes, as she was wrongly arrested for Russ' murder, and remains devastated that he had been killed.
Speaking ahead of the big day, Stuart told Digital Spy: 'I think it's so important that everything goes off without a hitch, because they are trying to prove to everyone that they are the perfect couple, but clearly, they are not!
'Mercedes has always been Russ' first true love. Mercedes can't help herself, and doesn't seem to be happy with anyone.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
