Alesha Dixon has revealed that her hit band Mis.Teeq were told they would fail by industry bosses because they were black.
The British singer, 40, confessed that she and her former bandmates Sabrina Washington ad Su-Elise Nash were racially discriminated against - however, it only fuelled them for success as they went on to have huge chart topping success.
Reflecting on the band's difficult journey to stardom to The Sun, Alesha also admitted that her own father Melvin questioned their potential success because 'being women of colour might go against them.'

Mis-Teeq, originally a four-piece before the departure of Zena McNally in 2001, were a group for a successful six years before disbanding in 2005.
They were one of the most successful girl bands of the noughties, and went on to have huge success in the UK and across Europe.
However before they hit the big time, Alesha recalled they suffered racism at the hands of people in the industry.
The mother-of-one said: 'I was thinking about something a record company executive said to me once, which was that black girls won’t sell records in the UK.

'When Mis-Teeq came on the scene we were very conscious of the fact we were a black girl group from the UK and there weren’t really many others who looked like us,' she continued.
Alesha also went on to reveal her dad was 'so against' her being in a girlband because he was nervous about her being a woman of colour in the music industry.
However, Alesha claimed all the apprehension 'fuelled us to make us want to work even harder, to say, "No, we won’t be identified by that".'
Earlier this year, Alesha further detailed the shocking racism Mis.Teeq faced when they first started out.

Since the group split, Alesha has undoubtedly enjoyed the most stardom as she stormed the charts with a successful solo career - releasing four studio albums.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
