«Breaking News» Tampa ex-cop is comforted by his wife as charges are dropped in sexual battery case

A former police officer who is accused of having sexual contact with a woman during a traffic stop has been comforted by his wife at a press conference announcing that all charges will be dropped.

Adam York, 45, was in tears as he spoke to the press in Tampa, Florida on Tuesday, proclaiming his innocence as prosecutors said that they will not pursue sexual battery charges against him.

York was fired from the Tampa Police a month after a woman accused him of asking her to pull her pants down and touching her during a traffic stop in February of 2016.

Investigators found his touch DNA on her underwear, which York's attorney claimed was transferred from when he handled her driver's license.

Hillsborough State Attorney Andrew Warren said that he believed any sexual contact during the stop was consensual, which is why his office decided to drop charges, according to the Tampa Bay Times

York maintained his innocence at the press conference.

'When you're the one who's been accused and you know you're innocent, you're angry from day one. From day one you're saying 'I didn't do this' and you've got all kinds of evidence, and everybody's just ignoring it,' York said, according to WFTS

'They had a plan, and they were going with it, and they weren't going to let me stop that and they weren't going to let facts get in the way.'

'I had to tell my daughter last night about bad touch, being accused of bad touches: my 8-year-old daughter,' he said.

'The school's going to hear about this, her friends, she's going to read about this on the internet, the horrible things said about me and she's going to have to live with that. This is never going away, this is the rest of my life and they've taken it all.'

York said he'd been unable to find police work since being fired and had been working construction jobs to provide for his family.

The allegations date back to the early morning hours of February 1, 2016, when York pulled over a woman for speeding outside WestShore Plaza.

She later admitted to driving drunk, but York told investigators he didn't think she was drunk, and the stop did not result in a ticket or arrest.

The woman, who is in her 20s, told police that she'd earlier met a Tinder date at Snapper's Grill & Comedy Club in Palm Harbor, and then accompanied him to Two Buks Saloon where they both drank a number of Long Island iced teas.

She said that she got out of her car at least once, and that York placed her in the back of his patrol car after ordering her back to her vehicle.

The woman said that while she was in the back of the car when York told her to pull her pants down, which she says she did. That's when she says he touched her inappropriately.

'I was flirtatious,' she told investigators. 'I pulled down my pants because he told me to.'

York said that the woman was flirtatious but denied that any sexual activity took place.

'I started to run her license but she got out of the car,' York said, according to investigative documents. '(I) told her to get back in the car. Started to run her license. She got out of the car. And this went back and forth a couple times.'

After the charges against York were dropped, his attorney Rick Escobar appealed to the Tampa Police to give him his job back.

Police Chief Brian Dugan said in a statement Tuesday that the department stands by its probe and won't be rehiring York.

Tampa Mayor Bob Buckhorn backed the police chief.

'The fact that the DNA was there is irrefutable,' Buckhorn said. 'Obviously, lawyers offer all kinds of theories. But we hold our officers to a very, very high standard and we're not going to diminish that standard at all.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
