«Breaking News» Strictly's Amy Dowden in tears during It Takes Two appearance as Danny John Jules REFUSES to appear

Strictly Come Dancing professional Amy Dowden was left in tears as she appeared without Danny John Jules on the show's spin-off It Takes Two.

The dancer appeared without celebrity partner Danny and broke down in tears, as she spoke to host Zoe Ball about their time in the competition together on Monday night.

Danny's no-show came after reports claimed he refused to appear on It Takes Two after launching into a tirade at the Strictly judges and branding them 'imbeciles' on his exit from the show.

Danny was noticeably absent during It Takes Two, as Amy sat alone to discuss the pair being sent home from Strictly.

Addressing his absence, Zoe had told fans: 'Sadly I'm afraid Danny has decided not to join us tonight but I'm delighted to have the gorgeous Amy here tonight.'

Amy was then seen breaking down in tears and reaching for tissues as she was played a montage of her and Danny's time together in the competition.

Despite reports of tension between the couple, she paid credit to Danny and insisted she was 'so proud' of his performances. Amy said: 'I'm so proud of Danny. Watching his journey - he is such a talented performer and I know and believe he belongs on the stage.'

She claimed the duo were 'prepared' for their exit and said the judges deciding to send them home wasn't a shock.

'I totally understand the judges and how they decided [Graeme should stay] but [Danny] did an amazing job in that dance off,' she added.

Zoe said she was 'disappointed' Danny hadn't joined Amy on It Takes Two, with many viewers taking to Twitter to criticise the star for leaving his partner on her own.

They penned: 'Danny looking like a bit of a sore loser for dodging #ItTakesTwo.

'Can't believe Danny didn't turn up for #ItTakesTwo. Amy you are a true professional!

'I love that on #ItTakesTwo Zoe didn't even try the 'Danny couldn't be here tonight' line - just went straight for the more accurate 'didn't want to'.

'I didn't have Danny down as a coward, I guess I was wrong.

'What an absolute pro Amy is turning up on her own. She is such a lovely girl, I can’t believe Danny left her to go on, on her own! What a sore loser.

MailOnline have contacted a representative for Danny and a spokesperson for Strictly Come Dancing for comment.

His no-show comes after sources claimed to The Sun that Danny 'refused' to take part in It Takes Two, after launching into a 'furious tirade' about the Strictly judges on his exit.

He is claimed to have declared 'I should have won' and even called the judges 'imbeciles', with a source telling the publication: 'Danny lashed out at the judges calling them imbeciles and told friends and family he would have won the show.

'He was wandering around the after-party mumbling to himself and anyone who would listen.'

MailOnline contacted BBC and Danny's representative for comment.

During Sunday night's elimination show, Danny found himself in the dance-off alongside Graeme Swann, 39, and his professional partner Oti Mabuse.

Both couples then performed their routines again, with Graeme and Oti doing their Salsa to Follow The Leader by Soca Boys whilst Danny and Amy performed their Samba to Feels Like Home by Sigala.

Blown out of proportion: Danny was reportedly issued a 'final warning' by show bosses over his 'bullying' behaviour, but Amy dismissed the claims saying it was just 'a minor disagreement'

However, despite Danny's best efforts, the judges voted to save Graeme. Explaining their reasons behind their decisions, Craig Revel Horwood began: 'Just for sheer level of difficulty and who I think is the best dancer. That is Danny and Amy.'

Darcey Bussell added: 'I wish you didn't put me in this position, I am not enjoying this at all. The couple I would like to save, on a more finished performance without any mistakes, is Graeme and Oti.'

Bruno Tonioli then said: 'Well this is a nightmare because really what we have to do is choose someone based purely on what happened now, not who was good yesterday, next week, whatever.

'Purely based on this dance, someone was slightly better and then it went wrong, and another one gave a fully full performance. What do I have to do? I have to choose the person who delivered better tonight and that person for me was Graeme. Graeme and Oti.'

Head Judge Shirley Ballas was in agreement with her fellow judges, and said: 'Both couples were really wonderful. I think they both put the best step forward but with a more flawless performance, more energy packed, with more excitement I'm going to go with Graeme and Oti.'

When asked by Tess about his time on the show, Danny said: 'It's been a great experience and I'm just so unhappy I didn't get Amy to where she needed to be.

'And I just think that as I said before, everything I have done on this show is because of Amy. It was her training, her choreography that got me here. I can only look as good as her dancing and you know, she is great, and I hope that her career goes up and onwards as she deserves.'

Amy then interjected: 'Do you know Danny told me day one that he has been a frustrated song and dance man.

'And I just think it's lovely that the nation has been able to see your talent and to see you back out there performing again, so thank you for delivering such amazing performances week in, week out. And your children are going to be so proud of you.'

Danny and Amy's kind words to one another may have come as a surprise to some viewers as Danny was hit with claims he had been demonstrating 'bullying' behaviour towards his partner.

It was alleged the actor left Welsh dancer Amy in tears after he 'repeatedly shouted and swore' in their training session last week, prompting BBC bosses to issue him with a 'final warning'.

Danny was reportedly issued with a 'final warning' by show bosses over his 'bullying' behaviour, but Amy was quick to dismiss the claims - stating in an interview with OK! magazine the pair had a 'minor disagreement' that was resolved.

Danny later claimed he is 'the victim of a vendetta' in an interview with The Sun.

'I'm a man who says what he means and means what he says, my conscience is clear over all of it. It seems to be turning into a vendetta. For some reason, some don't want me to be successful on Strictly', he added.

The Death in Paradise actor went on to like several supportive tweets from his fans who accused the judges of 'undermarking' him after he found himself at the bottom of the leaderboard, despite not making a single mistake.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
