A conservative activist has handcuffed herself to Twitter's headquarters in New York after being permanently banned from the social media platform for attacking a newly elected Muslim Democrat congresswoman.
Laura Loomer, 25, chained herself to the company's front door in Chelsea on Thursday afternoon to protest the decision to shut down her Twitter account last week .
Loomer yelled through the door that Twitter employees worked for an 'evil company' during the nearly two-hour protest.
'I am not going to stand by as people like Jack Dorsey and Mark Zuckerberg silence the voices of millions of conservatives,' Loomer said.

The NYPD ended up using bolt cutters to remove the handcuffs after Loomer requested them to do so.
She was not arrested for the protest, which was livestreamed on Periscope, after Twitter declined to press charges.
Twitter issued a statement during the ordeal, saying: 'We have notified the relevant authorities who are responding. The account holder was suspended for violating our policies. We apply the Twitter Rules impartially and not based on ideology.'
Loomer had her account shut down after she posted an Islamophobic tweet attacking the Minnesota Rep.-elect Ilhan Omar and her religion.
In the tweet, Loomer accused Omar of being 'anti-Jewish' and 'pro Sharia' and 'pro-FGM (female genital mutilation)' based solely on her Muslim faith.
Loomer also said that under Islamic law, 'homosexuals are oppressed' and that 'women are abused' and 'forced to wear the hijab.'

She had about 260,000 followers on Twitter when her account was shut down.
In a YouTube video responding to the ban, Loomer said: 'I've been silenced in America'.
Loomer describes herself as an investigative journalist and has often referred to herself as a martyr for the right-wing cause.
Back in August, Loomer interrupted a campaign event in Minneapolis for Ilhan Omar.
Loomer was part of a group that confronted Omar and Tlaib at the Holy Land deli.
She told the Star Tribune at the time that she's been traveling the country investigating Muslim candidates for office.
Loomer was arrested in New York in June after storming the stage of a production of Shakespeare's 'Julius Caesar' that has a character resembling Donald Trump who's assassinated.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
