«Breaking News» Ex-Strictly contestant Simon Rimmer suffers an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction

Sunday Brunch host Simon Rimmer suffered an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction on the Channel 4 show this morning after viewers spotted a hole in his jeans that was very close to his crotch.

The former Strictly contestant was interviewing Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith with co-star Tim Lovejoy when people noticed the unfortunate hole in his trousers.

They took to social media to poke fun at him and he later joked about boosting ratings with his unfortunate wardrobe malfunction - before changing into a pair of black jeans.

The programme's official Twitter account posted a picture of Rimmer alongside Leith and Lovejoy, with the hole just visible.

One viewer tweeted: 'Did Simon Rimmer just flash a hole in the crutch of his trousers at Prue Leith and the audience at home?'

A short while later, Rimmer acknowledged his wardrobe malfunction and said: 'I've ripped them right there.'

He added: 'Charles Venn, last night on Strictly in Blackpool, everyone was going crazy for his abs. I thought, you know what, I'll go inner thigh.

'Get our ratings up.'

Lovejoy laughed as he learned that fans of the show were tweeting about his co-star's awkwardly-placed rip.

One viewer tweeted: 'Hmmm just wondering why Simon appears to have a hole in his jeans. @SundayBrunchC4.'

'Has Simon split his pants??' another asked.

A third said: 'Simon now conscious about keeping his legs closed for the rest of the shows sit down interviews and not concentrating on the guests!!!'

And Rimmer wasn't the only person to cause a stir on the show, with many wondering about Prue's choice of necklace.

The Bake Off judge wore a large piece of jewelry on her neck - with some Twitter users comparing it to the children's game Kerplunk.

One user said: 'Watching Prue Leith on Sunday Brunch gives me an urge to play Kerplunk.'

Another said: 'Anyone else think Prue Leith looks like she'sfallen onto a game of Kerplunk with that necklace on?'

Away from wardrobe mishaps and questionable fashion choices, Prue talked about her time on the Bake Off on Sunday's show.

She said that Russell Brand sent cake to to both her and co-judge Paul Hollywood to be judged after they filmed the celebrity Great British Bake Off special.

The comedian and actor is among 20 stars taking part in the special charity edition of the Channel 4 baking programme for Stand Up To Cancer, along with the likes of Jeremy Paxman, Michelle Keegan and John Lithgow.

Prue told Channel 4's Sunday Brunch that the Great Celebrity Bake Off is 'absolutely hilarious, but not the best baking you've ever seen'.

She added: 'I'm not allowed to say anything about the show but I can tell you that Russell Brand went home, so inspired by his baking and everybody else's baking, that he sent Paul and me a piece of cake to judge about a week after.

'I should think he sent it by a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce, but it came fresh and it was delicious.'

Other stars taking part in the Great Celebrity Bake Off include Rylan Clark-Neal, Nicola Adams, Big Narstie and Johnny Vegas.

The show will be hosted by Bake Off presenters Sandi Toksvig and Noel Fielding, and will air next spring.

Leith, 78, also praised Bake Off winner Rahul Mandal, calling him 'very determined' although she also said he comes across as 'socially incompetent'.

Asked what gave him the edge to win the latest series, Leith said: 'He's a scientist and I think the thing about Rahul is that although he looks very socially incompetent - he does, he looks absolutely as if he has not got the confidence to say hello to you.

'And socially he's adorable, that's why everybody loves him, and they feel protective about him. But he is a top scientist and he's got a team working for him, and he is the boss and he knows exactly what he wants to do.

'He is amazingly ambitious, and you think, of all his bakes - if he ever got into trouble it's because he wanted to do too much. And he's very, he knows exactly what he's doing.'

She added: 'He's just very determined and he's quite simple: (he'll say) 'I'm going to try my best and I know I can do this and I will practise,' and he practised and practised, so he took it very seriously.

'I mean, I'm not saying the others didn't take it seriously, but his idea of serious is rather higher than most people.'

Viewers left scratching their heads at Prue Leith's choice of necklace on Sunday Brunch

Viewers reacted to host Simon Rimmer's ripped trousers, however that wasn't the only source of hilarity on today's episode of Sunday Brunch.

Great British Bake Off judge Prue Leith was interviewed by Rimmer and co-host Tim Lovejoy and viewers were quick to notice her unusual choice of jewelry.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
