«Breaking News» Jacqui Lambie took cover from ISIS fighters in Syria in SBS show Go Back To Where You Came From

Former senator Jacqui Lambie was forced to take cover from ISIS fighters in Syria after Islamist militants attacked the police compound she was visiting.

The 47-year-old Army veteran was checking in to the complex on Saturday as a participant of the SBS program Go Back To Where You Came From.

Video footage of the incident captured the sound of a single gunshot in close proximity, which soon escalated to shots from multiple Islamic State attackers.

Police and local security reports suggested the attack was designed to coincide with the 10th anniversary of ISIS declaring an Islamic caliphate in the Middle East.

Local police are understood to have gained control of the situation with about 10 ISIS fighters confirmed dead.

Ms Lambie, who has previously called for Islamic Sharia law supporters to be deported from Australia, wondered if ISIS was targeting them for being Westerners.

'My problem is now, are we the target?' she said.

'That's the question we need to ask.'

Fellow TV show participant Sydney immigration lawyer Marina, 28, who fled Sarajevo for Australia as a child to escape the Bosnian War, asked Ms Lambie if she was in fear.

Ms Lambie, a mother of two sons, replied her Christian faith had helped her cope with the attack.

'No, I don't. No, cause of my faith,' she said.

'I just believe when my day's up, it's up. It's that simple with me.'

Marina was less composed, describing the sound of 'gunshots, people running, trying to get to higher ground'.

'I thought about my family and my partner and what it would be like for me to lose them or them to lose me,' she said.

She described how they had, moments earlier, been taken out of their vehicles and into a 'safe building' as they were 'confronted with some unfriendly fire'.

For security reasons, SBS was unable to reveal the exact location in Syria where the television crew had travelled.

Early last year, Ms Lambie clashed with Muslim youth activist Yassmin Abdel-Magied on the ABC's Q&A program during a debate where she called for Islamic Sharia law supporters to be deported.

In the SBS television program, Ms Lambie doubled down on her call for Australia to reject taking in more refugees.

'We need to worry about our own backyard first,' she said.

'You have the Chinese in one place, the bloody Muslims in one place, the Indians are taking over the suburbs. That's not integration.'

Go Back To Where You Came From airs on SBS from October 2 to 4.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
