«Breaking News» Coronation Street: Is this the soap's most dramatic week EVER?

Coronation Street fans are set to be taken on a rollercoaster ride next week, with the introduction of a number of explosive storylines, including two weddings, a car crash and a funeral.

And, as if the extreme highs and lows of those plot lines aren't already enough, there's also the impending murder of Jim McDonald (portrayed by Charles Lawson), one of Weatherfield's most well-known residents.

The explosive action, set to shake up the humdrum of life on the cobbles from next Monday, will serve as quite the memorable swansong for Corrie boss Kate Oates, who is leaving her role as series producer after two years.

In the first round of shocking drama, Tracy Barlow (Kate Ford) and Steve McDonald (Simon Gregson) will be seen preparing to take a second trip down the aisle.

However, her dreams of a seamless day are disrupted by none other than her adoptive half-brother Daniel Osbourne (Rob Mallard), when he decides to tie the knot with Sinead Tinker (Katie McGlynn) on the same day.

The cruel clash of dates leaves their dad Ken Barlow (William Roache) facing a dilemma: Whose wedding will he attend? Sadly for Tracy, she'll soon learn that her brother's nuptials win out.

Outside of the wedding drama, ne'er-do-well Ronan Truman (Alan McKenna) triggers terrifying moments when he tails Michelle Connor (Kym Marsh) and her sons Ryan (Ryan Prescott) and Alex (Dario Coates) in his car.

With local gangster Ronan out for blood as he seeks revenge for drug dealer Ryan's involvement in his son Cormac's (Joe Mallalieu) overdose death, Michelle attempts to speed off with her sons to escape his wrath.

However, Ronan is right behind the horrified family, tailing them until Michelle's car breaks down and Ryan is forced to attempt to reason with the criminal — only to end up getting run over.

After running Ryan over, Ronan attempts to escape the approaching sound of sirens, knocking down a bystander in the process, before running himself off the road. As such, both Ryan and Ronan will be fighting for their lives.

Kym, who was helped through her high-octane scenes by the stunt team that worked on The Fast & The Furious, said of the shooting the sequence: 'It was great. They made me feel super-confident.

'I was a little bit scared but I was supposed to be anyway, so it helped. It added to the scene. I didn’t realise how much of the driving I’d be able to do.

'Trying to drive and say the lines was like patting your head and rubbing your stomach. It was one of the most dramatic stunts I’d ever been involved in.'

Corrie fans are also set to be gripped by a whodunit line, with Jim McDonald's impending grisly end also hitting screens.

Speaking on This Morning on Monday, Beverley Callard, who plays Jim's estranged wife Liz on the ITV soap, said of the murderer: 'It's got to be Liz. But I think there's a long time to go before that could or would happen.'

It was recently revealed that Jim is going to be written out for good, shortly after his return to Weatherfield in the summer. And now some fans are convinced that his former wife will be the one to murder him.

Beverley has previously hinted that Jim will face the fury of his ex-wife Liz after she discovers their so-called 'long lost daughter' Katie McDonald, aka Hannah Gilmore (Hannah Ellis Ryan), is actually an impostor.

Speaking to The Sun Beverley hinted that a whole new revenge plot could be on the horizon after she finds out that Katie is actually Jim's lover, and the pair are working together to con her out of her savings.

She said: 'Listen feisty Liz returns with a vengeance, that's all I can say about that,' she laughed.

'We're a long way off that now but the scenes are just brilliant. You know you get the script and think ''Oh that's good, that's good'' but honestly I could not wait to film them.'

Fans have been left sickened by the plot, as not only does it sit uncomfortably that Jim is having a relationship with his 'daughter' but they also slammed producers for the story which flew in the face of Liz's tragic loss decades earlier.

Actress Beverley was praised for her performance in the 1992 scenes when her baby daughter was born prematurely and died hours later, especially as such a plot had not been substantially covered in soap before that point.

Viewers have already claimed Jim's plan will implode as he cannot hide his long-lasting love for Liz, especially as he still called her 'my Elizabeth.'

Adding fuel to the fire, actor Charlie Lawson recently told Digital Spy: 'Jim just wants Liz back, but by that stage, he's in too deep.

'It gives the character a sort of redemption, which is important. Jim's never been a bad man, he just makes mistakes as every man does.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
