President Donald Trump came back to the on-again/off-again idea of organizing a parade in Washington – saying Monday that an Independence Day display could 'become a tradition.'
Trump referenced the idea during a meeting of his cabinet, where he took questions from the press about the possibility of a looming government shutdown and other topics. He did not make clear whether the idea was in its infancy or was actively being organized by his administration.
'We're thinking about doing on the Fourth of July or thereabouts a parade, a 'Salute to America' parade,' the president said.
'It'll be a, really a gathering as opposed to a parade I guess you'd have to say – perhaps at the Lincoln Memorial, we're looking at sites.'

'But we're thinking about doing something which would become perhaps become a tradition, Salute to America, on July 4th or July 4th weekend somewhere around that area.'
Trump did not specifically call the parade or meeting a military display – a concept which helped lead to the postponement of a grand plan brandish the nation's military might and honor servicemen and women.
His earlier push for a parade to honor veterans got scrapped after the leak of a $90 million cost estimate.
Trump said the parade could perhaps be located at the Lincoln Memorial and that it would 'become a tradition.'
'It could be an exciting day,' Trump said of the idea.
For decades, the government has organized a fireworks display on the National Mall for July Fourth. It typically includes a concert at the Capitol and a fireworks display launched from near the Washington Monument.
Trump mentioned the possible parade after backing down from a proposed parade to honor veterans that was to have been held last November. The idea met resistance from within the military, as well as from D.C. officials who feared heavy military equipment could damage D.C. roads.
Trump said at the time the parade would be 'great for the spirit of the country'. The idea got nixed after leaked reports of Pentagon estimates that it could cost as much as $90 million, while the nation still had thousands of troops stationed in Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

Former Secretary of Defense James Mattis, who resigned his post in protest citing disagreements with Trump, said whoever came up with that estimate was 'probably smoking something.'
Trump tweeted about the parade last August, apparently without consulting Mattis. ''I missed having had a chance to review anything,' Mattis told reporters at the time.
Trump made the comment at a meeting where he indicated he was looking at multiple ideas to provide border wall funding. Among the ideas that have been floated is reprogramming Pentagon funds, up to $4 billion of which could be available – though congressional buy-in may be required.
'I'm considering everything,' Trump said.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
