In his post, Max shared a black and white snap of Willow's hand clasping his, as he confirmed that Leah had given birth on Saturday, eight days overdue.

He wrote: 'Welcome Willow Whitlock to the world - Born Saturday 23rd February, weighing 7lb 13. It's the most amazing proud and indescribable feeling! My girls are incredible.'

It came after Max posted a week ago that his and Leah's arrival was already five days overdue, joking on Instagram: 'She's too comfy!'

Max tied the knot with childhood sweetheart Leah in July 2017 after ten years together, after first meeting at the South Essex Gymnastics Club aged just 12.

After sparking up a romance the pommel horse pro popped the question during a surprise getaway to the Lake District.

The couple shared details of their idyllic ceremony with OK! magazine, where Max admitted at the time he was most fearful of giving a speech at the reception.

He said: 'Forget the Olympics, that speech was the most nerve-wracking thing I’ve ever done! I wish I could’ve been a bit more fluent, but I found it so emotional and overwhelming.'

Back in September Max and Leah then announced that they were expecting their first child together, after they posted a sweet social media video revealing the news.

In the clip, Max could be seen drawing something onto the floor of his training room with chalk, which was eventually revealed to say 'Baby Whitlock Coming Soon -  February 2019.'

Max was propelled to stardom when he made history during the Rio Olympics last year as the first ever British male gymnast to ever bag an Olympic gold medal.

The winner scooped an impressive two gold medals in the pommel horse and floor exercise. Prior to his 2016 successes, he won two bronze medals at the London 2012 Olympics.

Back in September Max...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
