«Breaking News» Nadine Coyle 'will ALWAYS be proud' of Girls Aloud past and celebrates a DECADE since The Promise

Two monumental moments took place last week: Victoria Beckham partied with a Spice Girls drag act, and Girls Aloud's The Promise marked 10 years since it won the Best British Single BRIT Award.

And to celebrate this iconic juncture in the pop universe, Girls Aloud alum Nadine Coyle took to the stage in Clapham with drag tribute band Gals Aloud, to belt out her favourite tunes from the group's back-catalogue

'I love those songs; and I am proud of the 10 years I had with that group,' the Irish songstress, 33, told MailOnline ahead of the gig on Friday. 'And the music still sounds fantastic today.

'It would be crazy to do a show and not perform these songs. Something New, Sound Of The Underground, Biology, Something Kinda Ooooh, The Promise... they are all fantastic songs, right?

'And if people are coming to see me on my own, I want them to have a good time. Plus I want to have a good time myself, too.'

The singer, who has gone at it alone as a solo artist since the band disbanded indefinitely in 2013, has no qualms about riding on the coattails of her own success.

'I could sit there and sing things to make me sound like some "real" artist, or sing some sort of obscure covers of things, but I am happy I can sing the stuff that the audience know and love.

10 years later...: 'Also, it was 10 years ago we won the BRIT for The Promise. That's 10 years old now,' Nadine reminisced

'I have so many great memories of the band. It was an amazing time in my life and I still get to do this. I still get to do sets with balloons and confetti!'

She added: 'Also, it was 10 years ago we won the BRIT for The Promise. That's 10 years old now. And so it's even more amazing that I can get up and sing that song on BRITs week.'

Indeed, The Promise - which was the lead track from Girls Aloud's fifth and final original album in 2008, Out Of Control - stormed the charts when it was released that autumn, landing the group their fourth No. 1 upon release.

It then went on to earn them their first BRIT in 2009.

'I wanted people to come and see me and hear songs that they maybe thought they would never hear again,' Nadine went on, referencing the fact that she even throws Girls Aloud's lesser-known album tracks into her set lists these days.

'I still get nervous because you want it to be good. People have spent their hard-earned money on their night out. You don't want them thinking, "I wish I'd bought a bottle of vodka and stayed in!"'

For her set - which went down a storm with crowds on Friday night at The Clapham Grand- Nadine sang a Girls Aloud mega-mix, album tracks and some of her own material - such as 2018's Go To Work.

And there's more new music on the way.

'I am bringing out more stuff this year,' she revealed. 'Last year I brought out an EP. But even though I have been doing it a long time, I am relatively new as a solo act. So it's about finding my feet.

'It's also about how far you can push yourself with the singing and dancing. It's about what you're comfortable with, what you're good at.'

Nadine took to the stage on Friday at midnight, in a tiny pink corset, a semi-sheer ruffled top and skin-tight black leather trousers.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
