«Breaking News» Meghan Markle's baby shower guests were treated to $700 worth of gifts

Guests at Meghan Markle's lavish baby shower in New York City left the intimate gathering with high-end gift bags filled with luxe leather tote bags filled with the royal's favorite products.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex celebrated her impending arrival last week in The Mark Hotel's incredible Grand Penthouse Suite, which costs a staggering $75,000 per night. High-profile guests were seen leaving the fete, and they didn't go empty-handed.

According to People, Serena Williams, Amal Clooney, and Canadian stylist Jessica Mulroney were among the attendees who were gifted Cuyana leather totes that were filled to the brim with products, much like Oscars swag bags.

The totes, which retail for $175-$195 depending on style, included $67 Jo Malone Green Tomato Leaf scented candles, $65 Tatcha Rice Enzyme Powder, and $81 Susanne Kaufmann Body Butter.

They also reportedly featured products from Rodin and Jessica Alba's company Honest Beauty.

Brands often send celebrities free gifts in the hopes of getting press, and with Meghan's shower making headlines around the world, it's likely that companies were more than willing to offer up products for the guests' gift bags.

Guests, which included designer Misha Nonoo and celebrity trainer Taryn Toomey, also scored some new luggage at the fete.

On the day of Meghan's shower, about 17 Away suitcases were delivered to The Mark Hotel, each of which cost $225.

Daniel Martin, Meghan's longtime friend and makeup artist, dished about the February 20 festivities in a new interview with People.

'It was exactly what she needed, and it was a reunion for all of us, too, who hadn’t seen each other since the wedding,' he said.

Though photographers were stationed outside The Mark Hotel — and also caught Meghan and company at The Polo Bar the night before — what went on inside has been mostly kept hush-hush.

'Snow was falling outside, and it was so cozy — we all sat on couches or on the floor and told stories and caught up,' Daniel revealed. 'It was like going to a family reunion.'

Another guest who spoke to People anonymously added: 'It was all baby talk. She was getting tons of advice.'

Daniel also shared a photo from Meghan's shower, showing the cute rattle, bib, and stork-shaped cookies put out for attendees.

Fellow guest Gayle King opened up about the intimate shower on CBS This Morning, revealing she and other attendees were taught how to arrange flowers at the party. Meghan then donated those arrangements to various charities.

The anchor also said that she could not reveal the gift that she purchased for the royal because the guest of honor did not open any of her presents, choosing instead to wait until she got back to London and was with Prince Harry.

With the royal just a few months away from her due date, there has been mounting speculation as to whether Meghan and Harry are expecting a girl or a boy.

The Duchess reportedly told her friends at the shower that she pregnant with a baby boy, according to Us Weekly

However, many have speculated that she is having a girl based on the decor at her extravagant baby shower.

Decorations for the shower started arriving the day before the bash, and there was plenty of pink — from the blush-colored roses to the cotton candy machine that was brought into the hotel.

Earlier this week, a video that emerged on social that appears to give a glimpse at the decorations inside the penthouse party.

Royal fan account harry_meghan_updates shared a video on Instagram Stories, claiming that the short clip was actually captured inside the star-studded baby shower.

The video shows a dessert table that features plenty of sweet treats, including four macaron towers from Laduree, which cost a total of $460.

Meghan's close pals were treated to stork-shaped cake pops and miniature slices of carrot cake, as well as multiple cupcakes iced in pink and green frosting.

Also seen in the video are the iced baby-themed cookies that Meghan's longtime friend and makeup artist Daniel Martin shared photos of earlier this week.

The crowning glory was a two-tiered cake, which featured a miniature paper cut out of Harry and Meghan, standing next to a stroller.

The confection is believed to be the work of event designer Darcy Miller, who has been credited with putting together the lavish dessert buffet at the event.

It is unknown who filmed the clip, which the account reposted from another Instagram Story, but the location is tagged as The Mark Hotel, where the royal's shower was held.

The video also includes several hashtags including #EarlierThisWeek, #Royal #BabyShower and, perhaps most noticeably, #Girl, with the account speculating that the mostly-pink color scheme of the event suggests Meghan and Harry are expecting a little princess.

It's also possible that she and Prince Harry are waiting until the day their royal baby is born to find out the gender.

Earlier this month, the Duchess of Sussex was captured talking to a guest about her unborn child at the Endeavor Awards.

'We don't know,' she says in the clip shared by the royal fan Instagram account @harry_meghan_updates. 'Yes, we decided to keep it a secret, and then that way... it's one of those things, like, no matter what it is, it's still going to be a surprise.'

Royal commentator Victoria Arbiter recently stated that it is 'royal philosophy' to keep the baby's gender a secret until the day of the birth.

'There’s a belief that there are so few surprises left in life why not save the biggest one for the moment a child is born,' she told Honey.nine.com. 'This is not just a royal philosophy, many parents across the UK choose not to find out.'

Kate Middleton and Prince William kept the sexes of all three of their children a secret until after they were born, and they were public about their decision not to even learn the gender of their babies before they were born.

While this is typically a standard rule for members of the royal family, Queen Elizabeth II has not made it an official ban.

From shunning nude tights to sporting dark nail polish, Meghan is known to be a royal rule breaker, and it's possible that she knows the sex of her baby but is keeping mum.

Victoria also stated that baby showers are typically not held, but the Duchess has already broken this protocol with her luxurious and highly-publicized shower that dominated headlines last week.

According to the royal commentator, the royals are 'very wealthy' and a 'lavish baby shower would be seen as highly inappropriate' because 'there's nothing they can't go out and buy themselves.'

Last month, bookmakers were forced to suspend the market on the gender of Meghan and Harry's baby after an overwhelming number of bets were placed on the royal couple welcoming a girl.

The pregnant Duchess is due to give birth to her first child with Prince Harry in April, but the gender of the baby is not yet known.

The 37-year-old Duchess of Sussex celebrated her impending arrival last week in The Mark ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
