Police investigating the 'Night Watcher' burglar suspected of carrying out a £1million series of armed raids has struck again after a woman was tied up and robbed at knife-point.

Surrey Police revealed a year ago that the thief, believed to be a 'highly-professional soldier', had carried out seven raids during a three-year period. They have since linked a further five offences in the county between 2006 and 2015.

The Home Counties burglar's methodology includes extreme violence and meticulous planning, leading officers to believe he is a military veteran.

A secluded home in Reigate was targeted on Wednesday in an incident during which the female victim was tied up and jewellery was stolen.

A Surrey Police spokeswoman said: 'The investigation is at an early stage. We are keeping an open mind.'

The man entered the home in Wray Lane at 6.30pm on Wednesday, possibly via a bridle path at the back of the property, and left at approximately 6.50pm.

Detective Inspector Paul Gordon said: 'This was an extremely serious incident which involved the victim being threatened with a knife and tied up by the offender.

'Fortunately, she did not suffer any serious injuries but is understandably shaken by what's happened.'

The news comes after victim Susan Morris spoke of her horror as she was viciously beaten in her home in what is believed to have been another Night Watcher attack.

Previous raids across the Home Counties include two in Kingswood, and others in Maidenhead, Berkshire, as well as Chichester, West Sussex.

Properties in across Kent, including in Sevenoaks and Maidstone, as well as homes in Virginia Water, Surrey, have also been targeted.

Police have not revealed the location of another five linked burglaries that took place in Surrey.

Detectives have said the burglar used meticulous research and extreme violence, suggesting he may have served with the armed forces.

The burglar is believed to stake out his targets for several weeks in order to intimately understand the comings and goings of the wealthy occupants and learn the locations of safes and valuables inside.

The raider in the Reigate incident is described as a white man, aged 35 to 40, of stocky build, 5ft 11in, with light brown hair and light coloured eyes.

He was wearing a black woolly hat and something woollen across his mouth so only his eyes and eyebrows could be seen. He was also wearing a long-sleeved sports-style, zip-up shiny black top, blue jeans and dark tan work boots.

He had a local accent and no distinguishing marks that were noticed. He was carrying a large black sports bag.

The Night Watcher burglar has been described as white, of stocky/muscular build, around 6ft and he spoke to the victims with a south of England accent.

Earlier this month, Surrey Police said that in the year since it announced its investigation, named Operation Prometheus, detectives had eliminated 224 persons of interest, reviewed more than 10,000 documents and liaised with forces across the country.

Detective Chief Inspector Mark Preston said they had been considering 'hypotheses' that the offender had 'left the country or had died'.

He added: 'We are under no illusions about the impact these cases have had on the victims and we have been absolutely committed to finding the person responsible.

'We are confident that the lines of inquiry we have followed have been thoroughly tested and exhausted.

'At this stage we have gone as far as we can, but will of course re-examine these cases should any fresh evidence come to light.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
