Prince Charles' stepson once pledged his pork scratchings would be made from British pigs, but it has been revealed the company he founded now use continental pigs.

Tom Parker Bowles launched 'Mr Trotter's Great British Pork Crackling' in 2011, saying that he had been 'incensed' to find non-British scratchings being widely flogged.

He and two business partners were able to bring their scratchings packets, featuring a pig with a Union Jack waistcoat, to the shelves of Fortnum and Mason, Selfridges and Harvey Nichols.

But the snacks company have said their fatty fodder was now shipped over from Denmark, Germany and Holland, according to The Times.

Mr Parker Bowles had pledged that not only would his snacks be made from British pigs, but he also highlighted the need for ethical farms.

Mr Trotter's current director Karyn Walker told the paper she was still working to find how the pigs on the foreign farms were being reared and confirmed it was possible they lived indoors.

She confirmed they still used the phrase 'Great British Pork Crackling' on their packaging because they are still cooked and seasoned in Britain.

Ms Walker told the Times: 'It becomes British. I suppose it’s like if you’re born in India because you are on holiday there it doesn’t make you an Indian.'

Mr Parker Bowles is no longer a director of Mr Trotter's but still an investor.

He had aligned himself with his stepfather, Prince Charles, in his support for British farmers when the brand was launched.

He told the Sunday Express in 2012: 'I love having a pint and a packet of scratchings but I was incensed to find out most of them come from Danish pigs and I started to look into producing an outdoor-reared, British-bred scratching.'

Furthermore, he spoke about the 'grave situation' facing British farmers in a 2015 issue of Country Life and the importance of supporting them.

In addition to pork scratchings, their other offerings include spicy Pork Sausalamis and gin scented candles.

Twenty-four bags of the pork scratchings can be bought online for £38.40.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
