«Breaking News» Former The Bachelor star Laura Byrne offers advice to Married At First Sight 'villains'

Former The Bachelor winner Laura Byrne has offered advice to this year's contestants appearing on Married At First Sight.

Speaking to News Corp on Sunday, the jewellery designer-turned-socialite, 32, reflected on the notion of participants being subject to 'bad editing', insisting that people should take responsibility for their actions.

'I think that you have to be genuine as a person to who you are,' she said.

'Don’t be an a**ehole to get airtime because it’s not going to be in your favour. The backlash is not nice, no-one enjoys it,' she added.

Laura delved deeper into the editing process and said reality TV stars ultimately have to take responsibility for what they say during filming.

'I do think it’s 50-50 in that the edit can manipulate, however, at the end of the day people still say the things that they say, ' she said.

She also suggested the Channel Nine experiment may be subjected to heavier editing processes than The Bachelor, as she claims all her fellow alumnae on the fifth season of the show were (for the most part) portrayed accurately.

Laura's comments come after MAFS star Lauren Huntriss slammed producers of the hit Channel Nine show in a no holds barred interview on the Kyle and Jackie O Show last week.

The 32-year-old makeup artist, who chose to leave her TV husband, ex-virgin Matthew Bennett, during last week's shock episode, said she was given a 'disgusting' edit on the program, painting her as a 'sex freak' and 'nympho'.

Earlier this month, viewers saw Lauren hint she may be into 'swinging and threesomes' and wanted Matthew, who lost his virginity to her on the show, to be more 'dominant' in the bedroom.

In an earlier episode she also confessed she had dated women.

Speaking to radio hosts Jackie 'O' Henderson and Beau Ryan last week, Lauren said she was 'manipulated' by producers so they could create that storyline.

'I felt disgusted (when I first saw the edited version) and I was so upset. Then I received so much hate,' she said tearfully.

'For them to paint me as this nympho, it was disgusting. I feel so let down.'

Meanwhile earlier this week, former MAFS contestant, Dean Wells defended this year's 'villain' Ines Basic after she received brutal backlash from viewers.

Speaking to Who, the 40-year-old said that he 'feels bad' for the outspoken Bosnian bride - and revealed how producers may have 'manipulated' her on-screen behaviour.

'They [producers] really manipulate you into thinking it's all a bit of fun, it's all a bit of a joke and it's all a funny game that people will see through,' Dean explained.

'I actually feel really bad for Ines mainly because I think she's actually having fun with it.'

Dean went on to call Ines 'cheeky,' theorising that both she and Sam Ball were probably just joking around and following instructions from producers during their secret affair.

An Endemol Shine Australia spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia: 'All participants are adults and remain in full control of the choices they make. They choose to apply to be on the show, choose to accept selection, and choose whether or not to continue in the experiment.

'During broadcast, we continue to reach out to every participant, including Lauren. They may choose not to respond to our contact and offers of support, and we respect their decision. But the offer of support remains for each and every participant. This always includes access to our show psychologist.

'Everyone makes their own decision about what they say and do. But, this experiment can be highly emotional and the participants’ reactions can often be unpredictable, even to themselves.'

Married At First Sight continues Monday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
