Democratic presidential contender Kamala Harris dismissed the trillions of dollars liberal programs like the Green New Deal and Medicare-for-All could cost taxpayers saying it wasn't about the amount of money spent but the investment.
'One of the things that I admire and respect is the measurement that is captured in three letters, ROI. What's the return on the investment?,' she told CNN's 'Inside Politics' on Sunday.
'People in the private sector understand this really well. It's not about a cost. It's about an investment,' she added.

Medicare-for-all, a plan endorsed by liberals like Sen. Bernie Sanders and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, could increase government health care spending by $32.6 trillion over 10 years, according to a study released this summer by the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
And the Green New Deal, a plan to slow climate change through a variety of methods, is estimated to cost at $700 billion to $1 trillion per year.
Asked if the country could afford such programs, Harris told CNN: 'Of course, we can afford it.'
The California senator there were practical ways of implementing such policies.
'There's no question we have to be practical. But being practical also recognizes that climate change is an existential threat to us as human beings. Being practical recognizes that greenhouse gas emissions are threatening our air and threatening the planet, and that it is well within our capacity as human beings to change our behaviors in a way that we can reduce its effects. That's practical,' she said.
She was quick to say despite her support for such all encompassing government programs, she is not a socialist.
'It's important to distinguish between where someone is on a policy issue with a label with name-calling,' she said.
'I'm a progressive Democrat. I'm a Democrat. I'm a proud Democrat. I'm not a socialist,' she noted.
Harris vowed to support Medicare-for-all when she announced her campaign for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination.
'I am running to declare, once and for all, that health care is a fundamental right, and to deliver that right with 'Medicare for All,' she said.
She has also voiced support for Ocasio-Cortez's Green New Deal.
The Green New Deal is a statement of goals and doesn't make specific policy proposals, nor does it specify how it would pay for its ambitious plans.

The plan aims to slow climate change by ending the reliance on fossil fuels within 10 years; to upgrade power grids and existing buildings for maximum energy efficiency; to overhaul transportation systems; and to provide every American with a job and health care.
The 2020 Democratic presidential primary is expected to be a fight to the finish between liberals and more moderates members of the party.
Both Medicare-for-all and the Green New Deal are expected to be part of the fight for who wins the right to take on President Donald Trump this fall.
Harris said she is looking forward to debating her rivals on these topics during one of the 12 planned Democratic primary debates.
'I look forward to that debate on the debate stage,' she said. 'I look forward to it very much.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
