Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell is warning the November midterm election will be 'very challenging' for Republicans and is raising the alarm that they could have difficulty holding onto the Senate.
The red flag of concern and stark assessment of his party's chances this fall comes as President Donald Trump has an average approval rating on 41 percent, according to RealClearPolitics.
Independent political prognosticators are giving Democrats strong odds of retaking control of the House but Republicans were believed to be in a good position to keep the Senate.

Missouri Democratic Senator Claire McCaskil is in a tough race this year
As is North Dakota Democratic Senator Heidi Heitkamp
McConnell's warning came during a session with reporters in Kentucky, where he sounded a tough note on the party's chances.
He noted the 'wind is going to be in our face' with several make-or-break Senate races showing the polls are tight.
He said it was 'dead-even' in Senate contests in Arizona, Nevada, Tennessee, Montana, North Dakota, Missouri, Indiana, West Virginia and Florida.
Democrats Senators Claire McCaskill of Missouri, Heidi Heitkamp in North Dakota and Bill Nelson in Florida are ones seen as particularly challenging for Democrats.
'All of them too close to call and every one of them is like a knife fight in an alley,' McConnell said of the nine contests he named. 'It's just a brawl in every one of those places.'
He acknowledged the historical trend that shows the president's party often loses control of Capitol Hill in the midterm contest following the president's election.
'You can't repeal history, and almost every election two years into any new administration the party of the presidency loses seats. They don't always lose the body, but almost always loses seats. And so we know that this is going to be a very challenging election on the Senate side,' McConnell added.
Earlier this year, Republicans were seen as having a favorable map that should allow them to keep their 51-49 majority in the Senate.
Democrats are playing defense to keep 10 seats in states Trump won in the 2016 election. Also, Democrats have 24 incumbents and the two independents who caucus with them fighting to hold onto their seats, whereas only nine Republican seats are up this year.
Three of the contests McConnell named — Arizona, Nevada and Tennessee — are currently held by Republican senators.
McConnell acknowledged Sen. Ted Cruz has a competitive race
Democratic candidate Beto O'Rourke showed strong fundraising numbers and is running competitive in the polls in his battle with Cruz
Arizona Senator Jeff Flake and Tennessee Senator Bob Corker are retiring after this year, and Nevada Senator Dean Heller is considered the most vulnerable Republican incumbent as he runs in a state won by Hillary Clinton in 2016.
McConnell also acknowledged Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas could be in trouble after Democratic candidate Beto O'Rourke showed strong fundraising numbers and is running competitive in the polls.
'I think Ted's got a competitive race by all indications,' McConnell said. 'We certainly expect to win in Texas, but I think he does have a competitive race.'

The red flag of concern and stark assessment of his party’s chances this...
It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
