«Breaking News» Bride-to-be is furious with her mother-in-law for buying a WEDDING gown to wear on the big day

Any guest who has been to a wedding knows you should never try to upstage the bride by wearing white, eggshell, or cream.

But one bride-to-be has been left furious after she discovered her future mother-in-law had purchased a gown styled like a wedding dress to wear on the big day.

'My mother-in-law just bought a dress to wear at my wedding. She did ask me beforehand what type of dress I think she should wear,' the woman said on Reddit.

'I specifically told her to find something that is navy blue, dark green or grey and something conservative.'

But after suggesting the colours to wear, the mother-in-law opted for something completely different - a full length dress that's strikingly similar to a wedding gown.

'This is what she ended up buying,' the bride-to-be said, along with a photograph of a model wearing a floor-length frock with gold embellishments.

'It is gold with gold embellishments and gold threading. The whole dress is sparkly. When she showed it to me I was absolutely shocked and I wasn't very happy with her choice of dress.

'I just can't brain how she made the decision to buy this dress. Or what was going through her mind at the time. The whole thing is just so weird and out of character. Maybe she decided to be Cinderella for a day? On MY wedding day? Not sure.

'My dress in comparison is very simple with a little lace and some satin.'

'When the bride tried to explain to her mother-in-law that it was not the appropriate attire for the special occasion, she was given the 'silent treatment'.

'I did tell her in the most diplomatic way possible that her dress is 'not suitable for the function',' the bride-to-be continued.

'She grabbed the dress out of my hands, stuffed it in the cupboard and gave me the silent treatment. Well... here I thought I was being diplomatic?

'So I'm not sure what she's going through and I want to tell her nicely but not sure how to go about it.'

Speaking about their relationship, the bride-to-be insisted she gets along well with her mother-in-law before the dress dilemma unfolded.

'So I didn't expect her to buy a dress like that, especially with her being a simple-minded person who isn't fashion conscious to say the least,' she said.

'My own mother suggested that my mother-in-law wear the dress and make an absolute fool of herself.'

'He thinks every dress looks the same... rolls eyes,' she said.

'After a few minutes of pondering he reassured me that no matter what anyone wore that I'd be the most beautiful person on our wedding day and that nobody will ever outshine me.

'Yes this is sweet but then again he knows for sure that his mother will not buy a new dress because she is exceptionally frugal (she bought this on sale and it's not refundable).'

By sharing her dilemma, the bride wanted to know if she was just overreacting, as she asked for help on fixing the situation without starting any argument.

'As she already spent a lot on it, I don't want to create unnecessary drama. Am I overreacting? What do you think?' she asked.

'Wedding is still months away, I'm waiting for another opportunity to tell her. Hopefully she'll understand. If she doesn't then I'll probably let the photographer know to not include her in photos.'

Many agreed with the concerned bride, with some urging her to remind her mother-in-law the dress code etiquette of a wedding.

'Totally inappropriate. I would tell her, that there is no wearing that dress at your wedding. Remind her of your guidelines and insist that she gets a dress in a suitable color,' one said.

Another posted: 'She isn't having a crisis, she's throwing a tantrum and giving you the silent treatment over a wildly inappropriate dress for your wedding.

And one wrote: 'It's a wedding dress and utterly inappropriate.'

‘My ...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
