At the end of the show Kanye got political by donning a MAGA hat to perform Ghost Town alongside Kid Cudi. Ty Dolla $ign and 070 Shake hit the stage to join them as the credits rolled.

Kanye, who has performed on SNL six times before, also rapped with Teyana Taylor for We Got Love. The song was reportedly recorded for her latest Kanye-produced album K.T.S.E., but omitted because of issues with sample clearances.

The host of the night was BlacKKKlansman star Adam Driver with a guest appearance from from Matt Damon as Brett Kavanaugh. Wendy Williams, Lorne Michaels and SNL alum Rachel Dratch also made cameos.

Pete Davidson joked about his shotgun engagement to Ariana Grande saying: 'She's the number one pop star in the world and I'm that guy from SNL that everyone thinks is in desperate need for more blood.'

'Remember when that entire city pretended that that kid was Batman because he was sick? That's what this feels like.'

When asked by Colin Jost he enjoyed 'all the attention' he said: 'I hate it, it's awful, I got death threats…I was leaving my building and my doorman said "Yo man, somebody's trying to kill you."

It is estimated that Grande's net worth is roughly $50 million dollars, while Davidson's is around $500,000.

When quizzed about a possible prenup he quipped: 'Obviously, I wanted one, because god forbid if we break up and she takes half my sneakers.'

'I'm totally comfortable being with a successful woman, I think it's dope, live at her place, she pays like 60 grand for rent and all I have to do is stock the fridge,' grinned the 24-year-old comedian.

Adding: 'Last night I switched her birth control with Tic Tacs.'

Talking of the song she named after him he said: 'If, god forbid, we ever break up that song will be playing in Kmart and I'll be working there.'

Driver's monologue began with his frustration about boring chitchat from the SNL cast about their summers.

'I'm not good at small talk,' he grumbled.

The Star Wars star was about to give away 'one huge spoiler' about the film when he was interrupted for more mundane conversation from Beck Bennett, who got married this summer.

'I'm a big boy now, do you know how feels to be a big boy?' asked Beck.

'I'm also married and I was a Marine,' replied Driver, who also announced that 'Ewoks are real' and living in Michigan.

When Davidson entered he refused to discuss his eventful summer, only offering a cheeky wink.

'You're the one person who's summer I really want to hear about,' lamented Driver.

In a video game skit Driver played a dad called William Mactavish, who was trying to learn the game Fortnite to impress his 11-year-old son.

'There are guns in this game?' He balked as he ineptly attempted to move his character.

Kyle Mooney acted maudlin because his budding fame on the show had been comically overshadowed by Davidson's engagement to Grande.

SNL creator Lorne Michaels made a cameo to hug Davidson and share words of love, but he got Mooney's name wrong, calling him Kevin dismissively before wafting away.

To attract attention Mooney bleached his hair and began to dress like Davidson.

'I love this bro, people are finally starting to take me seriously,' he decided.

His new 'girlfriend' was talk show doyenne Wendy Williams, who had a miniature pig in a hamper.

'Why you stealing my look and my friends, don't you know I've got mental problems?' Asked Davidson as rapper Kid Cudi looked on.

They settled the feud 'the SNL way' with a sword fight and a giggle over a slapstick slip on a banana skin.

In a coffee shop bit Driver and Cecily Strong grew outraged with a group coffee snobs, who were fooled into drinking 'Burger King Joe' during a blind taste test.

'$1.99, you better take that back you pervert,' he yelled.

When Driver got so angry he broke a biscotti his wife (Strong) got 'so turned on' so they smooched awkwardly in front of the crowd.

Driver also played into a frat boy at a wild party who said: 'This will be a night we'll never forget.'

The show had opened with Leslie Jones playing Harris Faulker of Fox news. She announced the Brett Kavanaugh hearings as: 'Two of the oldest white people I've ever seen who are about to run a circus.'

Matt Damon played Kavanaugh, who had been 'shadow boxing in the men's room' for 45 minutes before coming entering the senate.

Damon, 47, came out sniffing and angry, shouting: 'I'm going to start at about an 11 and I'm going to take it to a 15 real quick.'

In a nod to the military film Full Metal Jacket he yelled: 'This is my speech, there are others like it but this is mine.'

'I wrote it myself last night, while screaming into an empty packet of Doritos.'

'I'm usually an optimist, I'm a 'keg is half full' kind of guy,' he continued, before brandishing his 'beautiful, creepy calendars' and comically chugging water.

'Guest what. I'm not backing down you sons of b*tches,' I don't know the meaning of the word 'stop',' he said to squeals from the crowd.

SNL alum Rachel Dratch made a an appearance as Senator Amy Klobuchar, who asked if he'd ever drank too many beers.

'You mean was I cool? Yeah,' replied Damon as a cardboard cutout of Alyssa Milano bobbed up and down behind Dratch.

'I was the proudest, drunkest virgin you've ever seen,' claimed Damon.

Weekend Update anchors Colin Jost and Michael Che returned to joke about the Kavanaugh hearings, calling it: 'A classic case of she said, he yelled.'

After a montage of Kavanaugh's many references to beer and working out Jost said: 'You're not really helping yourself in a drunken assault case when you yell about how much you like drinking and how strong you were at the time.'

'All this yelling and crying happened at this dude's job interview,' added Che.

'If you took a shot for every time Brett Kavanaugh lied about his yearbook you'd be as drunk as Brett Kavanaugh was in the summer of '82,' continued Jost.

Kate McKinnon returned as Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who produced a calendar that had 'DON'T LIE' written across it.

Driver cracked up the room by playing Pete Davidson's elderly, oil baron father in a schoolroom skit.

'What does an oil baron do? The answer is crush your enemies, break their bones into dirt, make them regret they were ever born,' he screamed.

His 'visual aid' for career day was a dead bird, which he stabbed repeatedly with his cane, while Davidson tried not to laugh.

'Don't worry, I'm from Boston,' he reassured them.

When they decided to go to Vermont for a knees up Adam exclaimed: 'Yeah! And we can all rent Subarus.'

SNL continues next week on NBC with Awkwafina and Travis Scott.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
