«Breaking News» England's friendly with Switzerland broadcast in black and white for opening 25 seconds

The opening 25 seconds of England's friendly against Switzerland were shown in black and white in a move by the Football Association to pay tribute to Kick It Out's 25th anniversary.


Television viewers for Tuesday's clash at the King Power Stadium on Sky Sports will have noticed the the picture switch from colour to black and white for 25 seconds as the teams entered the pitch.


The gesture was a celebration of the hard work that Kick It Out has provided during 25 years of tackling racism and all forms of discrimination.

Before the match, England players warmed up in bibs and training tops with the Kick It Out logo emblazoned across their fronts and backs.


They also entered the pitch alongside mascots chosen by the charity.


In addition too, the iconic England supporters' band wore Kick It Out shirts in support.


In a statement ahead of the match, the FA's inclusion advisory board chairman Paul Elliott said: 'Kick It Out have been a catalyst for the change in English football both on and off the pitch and we're delighted to celebrate their inspirational work in promoting football for all.

'Hopefully the footage will encourage the millions of viewers at home to spend at least 25 seconds thinking about the importance of diversity in this beautiful game of ours.'


Kick It Out chair Lord Herman Ouseley said the charity was delighted with the gesture and hoped the footage would be a 'powerful reminder of how far football has come in the last 25 years to make the game a more open and diverse place'.


England manager Gareth Southgate said: 'I think football is a mirror of society and our country has made huge strides in every area dealing with racism. Kick it Out has played a major part, particularly with education in schools of young people. It's great we can dedicate this game to that cause.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
