A couple was seen smoking drugs inside a tent they pitched on a subway car in New York City, fellow commuters say.
A witness who tweeted a photo of the blue and green tent claimed to have seen the man and woman on board the southbound 2 train in the Bronx late Friday afternoon.
The rider under the Twitter handle @Indepublican claimed to have watched the couple erect the tent before climbing inside to 'smoke some sort of drug' - to the disgust of fellow passengers.
Police responded to reports that a couple was smoking drugs inside a tent they'd pitched on the subway in the Bronx after an alleged witness tweeted the photo above on Friday afternoon
'They have the car train door open, exposing passengers to drugs,' the unnamed witness complained in a tweet to NYPD Transit just before 5pm. 'Please alert the conductor or police.'
The informant said they moved to a different car as the smoke seeping out of the tent began filling the tight space.
'I'm sick and tired of these people on the trains,' @Indepublican told News4. 'This drug epidemic is outrageous.'
Police quickly responded to reports of the alleged drug use on Twitter, confirming that they had located the train in question and had dispatched officers to investigate.
Two minutes later @Indepublican tweeted to @NYPDTransit: 'They just walked away with the police. Thank you officer!'
However, the NYPD said Saturday that they'd received a 911 call about a tent set up inside a subway car in the same area at the same time, but that they didn't find anything.
@Indepublican's Twitter account has since been deleted.
DailyMail.com has reached out to the NYPD Transit Chief's office for clarification.
Officers were dispatched to the 2 station at East 233 in the Bronx after receiving reports of the alleged drug use, but it remains unclear whether they found anything

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
