«Breaking News» Sickening moment Sri Lankan cricketer is left prone on the pitch

A Sri Lankan cricketer has been rushed to hospital after being hit in the back on the head by a bouncer.

Dimuth Karunaratne had attempted to dodge the 142km/h ball delivered by Australian quick Pat Cummins during the second day of the test in Canberra on Saturday.

Shocked fans saw the player drop to the ground as others rushed to help.

Sri Lanka's Dimuth Karunaratne was 46 not out when a rising Pat Cummins ball appeared to glance off his shoulder and onto his helmet

Training and medical staff huddled around Karunaratne as he lay motionless on the pitch for about 10 minutes.

He was stretchered off the field in a neck brace and rushed to hospital.

Channel Seven commentator James Brayshaw said the incident was 'raw' given how a bouncer to the head led to Australian cricketer Phil Hughes' death during a Sheffield Shield game in 2014.

Paramedics performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on Hughes and treated him on the boundary for about 40 minutes. He was placed in a coma but later died in hospital.

Sri Lanka was 82 for no loss at the time of the incident. At stumps, Sri Lanka was 123-3, still trailing Australia's first innings of 534-5 declared, by 411 runs

Earlier, Kurtis Patterson became Australia's third century-maker of its first innings, scoring an unbeaten 114. Patterson made Sri Lanka pay for dropping him on the first ball he faced.

Australia's century drought, which dated to Dubai in October, ended as Patterson joined Joe Burns and Travis Head in reaching three figures.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
