«Breaking News» Dakota Theriot grimaces as he is booked for murders of his parents in Louisiana

The man suspected of killing five people, including his parents, in Louisiana has been extradited back to the state where he grimaced as he faced murder charges.

Dakota Michael Theriot, 21, was extradited by plane on Friday from Virginia to Louisiana, where he was booked into the Ascension County Jail on murder charges.

Theriot reportedly declined to fight extradition back to Louisiana after he was arrested on Sunday in Warsaw, Virginia, where deputies were lying in wait for him at his grandmother's home. Though Theriot flew up his grandma's driveway with a gun pointing out of the window of his pickup truck, he surrendered without incident.

His court-appointed lawyer says that Theriot made the trip to Virginia to try to hug and kiss two aunts and grandmother goodbye before going to prison.

'He basically wanted to say 'I love you, I'm sorry,'' attorney Steve Barnette said. 'He knows he's probably never going to see the outside of a jail again.'

Theriot may face the death penalty on murder charges in the deaths of his girlfriend, her father, her brother and his own parents. All five were shot in the head, preliminary autopsies determined.

'He knows he could face the death penalty,' Barnette added. 'I think he's resigned and understands his fate.'

Authorities in Louisiana have said Theriot confessed to investigators who had traveled to Virginia, although they said his motives remain unclear.

At his extradition hearing on Friday morning, Theriot showed little emotion and offered polite yes and no responses to the judge, who explained that he had the right to fight extradition.

Bound in handcuffs and chained in a blue jail jumpsuit, he awkwardly signed forms at a table. A deputy kept a hand on the chain throughout the hearing. He didn't appear to acknowledge his relatives in the courtroom, and they declined to comment.

Barnette said Theriot told him he had recently tried to join the U.S. Army, but had some sort of falling out during the recruitment process.

After a plane ride in the custody of Louisiana deputies, Theriot arrived in Ascension Parish on Friday night.

He was booked there on two counts of first degree murder, one count of home invasion and one count of illegal use of a weapon.

Theriot will be booked on three additional counts of first degree murder and motor vehicle theft once he is transferred to Livingston Parish, where the murders of the girlfriend and her parents occurred.

At the Ascension Parish Courthouse, Theriot was stone faced as deputies led him inside, the Advocate reported.

However, inside the courthouse, the suspected killer screwed his face into a grimace as he appeared to confer with legal counsel, photos show.

Officials at the courthouse said that that Theriot had shown 'some decorum' while in law enforcement custody.

They said that he had offered no new information on his motive in the killings, and offered no fresh details on the case against him

Theriot is accused of killing Summer Ernest, 20, a woman described as his girlfriend, as well as her father Billy Ernest, 43, and brother, Tanner, 17.

Investigators say that, after killing the three near Walker, Theriot drove to his parents' home near Gonzales and killed his parents, Keith and Elizabeth Theriot, both age 50.

Theriot had reportedly been living with the Ernest family for about two weeks before the killings, and dating Summer for just a few weeks as well.

Livingston Parish Sheriff Jason Ard said Theriot told investigators he used a gun he stole from his father to kill Summer.

'We don't really know what the motive is. We just know what he did,' Ard said at a news conference Tuesday.

Ard said Theriot had tagged along with Billy Ernest as he drove his wife to work early Saturday morning.

Shortly thereafter, Summer Ernest and her father and brother were each shot once in the head. Two children in the Ernest home - a 7-year-old and a 1-year-old - went to a neighbor's house and the neighbor called Livingston Parish law enforcement, he said.

Keith Theriot survived long enough to call 911 and tell arriving deputies that his son had shot him, authorities said.

Theriot's grandmother in Virginia had checked into a hotel Saturday night, fearing he might show up there, authorities said. She asked police to check her house to ensure it was safe.

Authorities said deputies were there Sunday when Theriot drove up in Billy Ernest's pickup truck, a gun pointed out the window.

Richmond County Sheriff Stephan Smith said shortly after the hearing that the gun was not pointed at the deputies, but they took cover behind their vehicles and told Theriot to stop the truck and drop the gun, which he did.

'It's a shame it happened,' Smith said. 'I'm just glad it turned out the way it did here.'

Smith said Theriot has several relatives who live in the area of Warsaw, a small town in a county of fewer than 10,000 people.

Barnette, Theriot's attorney for the extradition hearing, said he could not explain why Theriot was allegedly pointing a gun out of the truck's window when he arrived at his grandmother's house. Barnette said he was unaware of that allegation when he spoke to Theriot.

People who lived with Keith and Elizabeth Theriot said their son had struggled with drugs and had violent outbursts. His relationship with Summer Ernest also raised red flags with her family and friends.

In Louisiana, Ascension Parish Sheriff Bobby Webre has said he would not oppose the death penalty if prosecutors ask for it.

'We know what happened here,' Webre said. 'He killed five people. So, this is a monster.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
