«Breaking News» Cracker Jack! Andrea Pirlo and Frank Lampard rate him, now Harrison is firing for Leeds

From Merseyside to Manchester, with time spent at school in Massachusetts to boot, Jack Harrison had waited a long time for his moment.

The 21-year-old's late strike, rifled in with his left foot, rescued Leeds against Millwall and kept up their unbeaten league start. Not bad for a winger moved up front due to injuries. 

Harrison has always been a player to keep an eye on. He was born in Stoke, but moved to America aged 14, after time with Liverpool and Manchester United. His senior football began at New York City, where he became the club's first teenage goalscorer.

Frank Lampard took note. Last year, he said: 'I think there are a lot of big things to come from Jack.' Andrea Pirlo was also impressed. Manchester City moved him to England from their sister club in January. Opportunities were limited. A loan spell at Middlesbrough last season brought just four appearances.

But maybe Marcelo Bielsa — with his reputation for youth development — was always going to be a good fit. This has the potential to be a breakthrough year.

The Argentinian coach has always been a reference point for Pep Guardiola. It was Guardiola who encouraged Harrison to move. 'I spoke to Pep at the end of pre-season before I came here,' said the England Under 21 star after scoring his first goal in English football. 'He spoke very highly of Marcelo and the club and the opportunity that I had to play was something special. He said that himself.'

Saturday's dramatic intervention has easily been the high point of the winger's spell. 'It was a very special moment. It was a crucial time.'

He has always been a player to watch out for and he has impressed some of the biggest names

Until the last two games, he has been used primarily as a late substitute, aside from appearances in the Carabao Cup. A missed late chance against Swansea earlier in the season did not help his battle for action.

And the form of Pablo Hernandez meant it was going to be difficult to break into Leeds' first team. Even so, an injury crisis means Harrison now has a chance to impose himself.

'I am obviously grateful for this opportunity. It's a bit unfortunate the way it came about with Pablo being injured, and I wish him the best, but I am trying to make the most of it now and do what I can for the team.'

There is still a lot for Harrison to work on. At times in south London he found himself on the fringes of the game.

But there is enough to suggest he is getting there. His crossing nearly helped tee up Luke Ayling for an equaliser shortly after Jed Wallace's opener for the home side. And Harrison's pressing bore all the hallmarks of what Guardiola and Bielsa demand from their forwards.

Ultimately, he did not look out of place in a side that has set the pace in the Championship, even in a fierce atmosphere at The Den.

Any issues with his game will be worked on under Bielsa. 'In every position, not just specific players or maybe certain parts of the game, the whole game is so detailed with him,' Harrison said.

'The way he sees the game is very special and you can tell he knows a lot.'

It is for the best he already has his shooting boots on — that is one thing he will not be coached on. 'If you are doing shooting a lot you might pull something,' Harrison said. 'I'd like to work on it more but they won't let me!'

Whether he gets to practice his finishing or not, the signs are good. Saturday was a giant stride on Harrison's path towards achieving his potential.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
