Selena Gomez declares her 'love' for Demi Lovato

Selena Gomez has broken her silence on her close pal Demi Lovato's life-threatening drug overdose, declaring that she 'loves' and supports the troubled singer.

In a new interview accompanying her cover shoot for ELLE's October issue, the 26-year-old singer and actress has revealed that she 'reached out personally' to her friend, also 26, following her overdose and hospitalisation in Los Angeles on July 24.

'All I’m saying is, I reached out personally,' revealed the It Ain't Me singer when she was asked about her friend. 'I didn’t do a public thing. I didn’t want to. I… I love her. I’ve known her since I was seven. So… it’s… that’s what I’ll say.'

It was reported last month that Demi suffered her near-fatal overdose after smoking Oxycodone possibly laced with fentanyl — the same drug that killed Prince and Lil Peep — with a dealer at her Hollywood Hills home.

The singer is said to have contacted Brandon Johnson via text message in the early hours of July 24 to join her at her hilltop abode, after she attended a party at popular Sunset Strip bar Saddle Ranch.

It was reported that the pair smoked painkiller Oxycodone 'on tin foil' at her home and, unbeknown to the star, the batch was likely laced with particularly potent fentanyl as the dealer had a 'bad habit of buying [tainted] drugs from Mexico'.

The dealer, who Demi is said to have been using the services of since April, allegedly fled the star's house after noticing that she was breathing heavily in bed — leaving her staff to discover her at 11:30 AM.

She is said to have been revived with Narcan before being rush to hospital, where she remained for two weeks as she recovered.

And while Selena opted against going into detail on the conversations and contact she has had with her friend since, she was more forthcoming about recent changes in her own life, including turning 26 on July 22 — two days before Demi's overdose.

She told ELLE of her new age: 'It’s peaceful. It’s weird. The moment I turned 26, I felt 26. Right now, I feel very sure of where I am. I don’t feel erratic or emotionally unstable. Or like I can’t handle my emotions, like I used to. 

'It’s kind of understanding myself a little more. By all means I don’t have myself figured out. But it feels good.'

She also spoke about the meaning behind Flawless, a song on her upcoming album, explaining: 'Meaning through all your imperfections, you’re flawless. You’re not striving. It’s me encouraging a younger version of myself.

'Even when you’re imperfect, even when you’re feeling worthless, you are flawless. It’s a song I’m going to sing for the rest of my life.'

In the shoot accompanying her interview, Selena looks as glamorous as ever, sporting a range of breathtaking looks as she poses up a storm for revered photographer Mario Vivanco.

Selena, whose ex-boyfriend is now engaged to supermodel Hailey Baldwin, dazzles in a deeply plunging golden embellished gown and sizzles in a sleeveless metallic animal print number.

As well as sporting an ethereal look in a white halterneck dress featuring a feathered skirt, Selena also commands attention in a plunging scarlet red gown with a thigh-high slit as she strikes as series of alluring poses.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
