A pensioner has been jailed for eight years after he scoured shops for a knife which he later used to stab a man on a busy Saturday afternoon.
Roy Lowe, 72, pleaded guilty to having a kitchen knife and intentionally inflicting grievous bodily harm on a 38-year-old man in Nottingham.
Retired Lowe stabbed the man in Nottingham city centre, following a spat with a woman who had been with the victim.

Nottingham Crown Court heard the OAP, who has a bad record for offences of violence – had become involved in an argument, he then took the man by the throat but he pushed him away before the stabbing.
Sentencing Lowe, Judge Stuart Rafferty said: 'There was no threat to her by you.
'There was unpleasantness on both sides. You could have walked away from it but you did not. She made the mistake of going outside with the people she was with for a cigarette.
'Then things went really wrong and they went wrong because - in your drunkenness and your pride being hurt - you deliberately set about arming yourself to take revenge.'
Lowe set out to the nearest shop but couldn't find a knife there. He visited a second store and bought a kitchen knife for the 'sole and specific purpose of attacking him', said the judge.
The victim suffered a single stab wound which was treated with antibiotics and a dressing in hospital.
'You came up behind him and stabbed him without more ado,' the judge said.
'It was your good fortune you caused him a far less injury than I am satisfied that you intended to.
'You pursued him into the pub and tried to stab him again.'
The judge also highlighted that the defendants age had not stopped him from committing a most serious offence.

'I wish I could say it was an offence wholly out of character for you, but over the years you have repeatedly committed offences of violence and serious violence and, demonstrating even now, that you have an unpleasant temper.'
Lowe, of Bulwell, sat solemnly in the dock pale-faced as he listened to the judge.
Adrian Langdale, mitigating, told the court: 'He is going to be an old man when he comes out of prison. It is very, very unlikely he will trouble the courts again.

'He was a joiner in life; worked hard until retiring at 65.'
Since then divorced Lowe - whose last conviction was 11 years ago for assault, causing bodily harm - became 'a loner'.
But Mr Langdale stressed he has the support and love of a number of people.

'Clearly at the root of all this lies alcohol,' he said.
Lowe would binge drink but in sobriety 'he is a pleasant, well-presented, older man', added Mr Langdale.
'He accepts full responsibility,' he said of the offence. 'He did it and he would like through me, his apologies to be heard. He is ashamed, remorseful and deeply regrets what happened that day.'

Retired Lowe...
It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
