Marcelo Bielsa and Leeds gave further notice that they are capable of lasting the pace of a marathon Championship campaign as Liam Cooper put them on track to extending their unbeaten start.
The Elland Road club fell away after an impressive opening last season, but this time they look to have the resilience to tough it out as Cooper’s first-half header helped cement their place at the top of the table.
Tyler Roberts expertly lobbed home with 15 minutes left to put Leeds 2-0 up and he then headed in his second eight minutes later to make it 3-0.

Tyler Roberts hit a late brace as Leeds beat Preston to stay top of the Championship table

A knee slide in celebration in front of a buoyant home support capped off a fine performance

The 19-year-old showed he had the ability and desire on a wet night as he rose to head home
The game marked a return to old haunts for Preston supremo Peter Ridsdale, the former Leeds owner who quit Elland Road 15 years ago with the club £100m in debt and 12 months away from relinquishing a place in the top flight.
However, under Bielsa Leeds are showing signs of recapturing that place in the Premier League that has eluded them for so long.
Preston’s victory here in the Carabao Cup last month remains the only defeat Bielsa has tasted since taking charge in June, and the visitors did enough early on last night to suggest that wasn’t a fluke.

Liam Cooper opened the scoring midway through the first half to break Preston's limited spirit

The hosts have set the tone so far and looked comfortable as they eased to three more points
In an enterprising opening, Leeds goalkeeper Bailey Peacock-Farrell saved well from Callum Robinson and Daniel Johnson before the hosts recovered to impose themselves and then take charge of the contest.
Mateusz Klich should have done better after 15 minutes, but he pulled his shot narrowly wide after being put through on goal by Jack Harrison.
Ezgjan Alioski then rounded Declan Rudd in the Preston goal and fond the net, but the winger’s effort was ruled out for offside.
Leeds’s mounting pressure eventually told eight minutes before the break when captain Cooper found the net with a diving header.
Leeds dominated the second half and Roberts’s brace was very much deserved. It leaves them three points clear at the top of the Championship and unbeaten after eight games.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
