«Breaking News» Klopp says Jordan Henderson is not fit enough to start against Tottenham

Jurgen Klopp insists Jordan Henderson is not fit enough to start Liverpool's clash with Tottenham at Wembley.

The Reds captain was on international duty with England during the international break and played a part in both the Nations League defeat by Spain and the 1-0 friendly victory over Switzerland at the King Power Stadium.

However, Klopp suggested that he is feeling the effects from a busy schedule with Gareth Southgate's squad, and with a key Champions League clash coming up against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday, the German stressed it was important to have his skipper running at full capacity.

 'With Hendo, we need him so much and I don't think it makes sense in the moment to play him,' he told Sky Sports before the lunchtime kick off. 

'That's the thing, we're still a bit adapting to the intensity, Hendo needs his full physical strength.

'I'm sure he'll have that today when he comes on and on Tuesday as well.' 

It is not the first time Henderson has been consigned to the bench this season, with the midfielder only starting once in the league — during the victory against Leicester City before the international break.

The switch sees Naby Keita return to the starting line-up, where he had taken his place for the first three matches of the season.

Despite what appears to be a return to the status quo, however, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp admitted he was surprised by the change.

'I am sure he is surprise,' said the former Liverpool midfielder. 'These sorts of games are the ones he would have wanted to play in.

'I am sure he will play on Tuesday and he will get plenty of game time. But the fact Keita is playing ahead of him, he will be wishing he is involved. '

Fellow pundit Graeme Souness went even further, suggesting it may be sign that the Wearsider's time at Anfield may be coming to an end. 

'If we're at a football club as three midfielders and have a good season, reach the final of the Champions League, and he buys two midfield players and tries to buy a third one, I think the writing's on the wall for someone. 

'Jordan Henderson, the captain of the football club being left out, how many times do you get to play at Wembley? 

'If I'm the captain I'm knocking on the door saying what's going on? I'm your captain.'

Henderson was brought on by Klopp after 70 minutes at Wembley with Liverpool two goals ahead, Roberto Firmino making way due to an eye injury.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
