Law enforcement have released body cam footage after an officer shot an 'aggressive' pit bull in the chest and face Friday morning.
In the difficult-to-watch moment the animal squeals and rolls around in the road after being hit before the clip ends.
Grand Rapids Police Department in Michigan responded to claims they injured six-year-old Youneek unjustly after her owner and animal lovers argued there was no need to shoot the canine.

The incident took place at 6.30am while owner Shequelle Robinson was at work and law enforcement had received a complaint at 2.15am that the pet was acting aggressively toward someone nearby and pacing between four houses.
According to the GRPD, the officer felt he too was at risk when he gunned down the dog that had broken free of chains it was bound by.
'Law enforcement officers are forced to do things every single day that they wish they did not have to do...and GRPD is no exception,' they captioned the video on Facebook. 'After 30 minutes of trying to entice/snare the dog, attempting to identify and contact an owner including phone calls to each house, and after the dog charged at an unsuspecting neighbor exiting his house, officer shot twice at the dog as it charged the officer in the street.
'The dog is fortunately still alive and has been reunited with its owner.'
The pit bull is said to be gentle but a neighbor reported that the dog was behaving aggressively in the area
The dog was found seeking shelter by two construction site workers after the shooting
Sergeant Catherine Williams added that they tried to catch the pet but when the officer fell to the ground, he pulled the trigger to protect himself.
'We attempted a snare twice, but both times were unsuccessful,' Williams told Detroit Free Press. 'The second time, the officer fell backwards onto the ground, dropping the snare and, from the ground, shot the dog from only a few feet away as it was charging him.'
The family who own Youneek believe the rescue pit bull was simply scared when police found her.
After footage from the body cam video ends it's not clear what happened but the dog was reunited with her owner at around 4pm that day after two men working on a construction site discovered her in bad condition seeking shelter.
Robinson says she only heard about what happened when a neighbor called her and ran crying and screaming towards five police cars outside her home.

The family hopes to raise $5,000 to care for the dog which needs at least one operation
The GoFundMe page shares the exact costs that people who donate will be paying for
'When they finally brought her to me, I thought she was dead,' Robinson said. 'She's in pretty bad condition. Her leg has to be amputated now.'
Witness Savonna Brown agreed that Youneek is not an aggressive creature.
She said: '[The officer] was flashing [a light] and it got her attention, and she realized he was moving towards her. That's when she came towards him. And then she got on the other side of the street and that's when he shot towards her.'
As non-profit Michele's Rescue owner Michele Schaut tries to raise $5,000 on a GoFundMe page to cover medical bills, she has forked up the $2,000 owed so far.
Youneek is currently under sedation at Blue Pearl Animal Hospital as a bullet remains lodged in her front leg.
While the family and Schaut have provided images of receipts for vet costs online and want GRPD to pay for what they did.
'She's a disabled dog now that we have to attend to,' Robinson added. 'So I don't know what the other expenses are going to be.
'It was not justifiable for them to shoot her when she's on her own property. I want justice for my dog.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
