«Breaking News» Ex-Givenchy designer is unveiled as the new creative director of Joseph

Its classic separates have seen it become one of a handful of high street brands to make its way into the designer-crammed wardrobes of Britain's young royals.

And now Joseph is set to undergo a major shake-up following the announcement of a new creative director, filling the space left by the departure of former chief Louise Trotter after nine years in the role.

But her chosen replacement is bound to meet with the approval of Joseph's high profile fans, who include the Duchess of Cambridge, her younger sister Pippa, and the Duchess of Sussex

Susana Clayton is a former head of womenswear at Givenchy, the storied French fashion house that Meghan selected to make her wedding gown.

When the now Duchess of Sussex joined her husband-to-be Prince Harry on an official engagement for the first time last December, she gave a nod to the great British high street in a Joseph skirt. Givenchy, now under the direction of Clare Waight Keller, has become something of a signature label for Meghan, who since dazzling in her bateau-neck gown by the designer at her fairytale Windsor Castle wedding in May, has worn it at Royal Ascot, on a trip to Dublin with Harry, and most recently at her first solo engagement, a trip to the Oceania exhibit in London.

It suggests Ms Clayton, who was former head designer at Givenchy, is better qualified than most to help Joseph retain its spot in royal affections - while simultaneously driving revitalising the brand for the future.

Meghan made her first nod to the British high street in Joseph, choosing an elegant camel midi skirt from the label for her first - furiously anticipated - public outing with Prince Harry following the announcement of their engagement.

The soon-to-be Duchess teamed it with Kurt Geiger boots to greet members of the public in Nottingham on the arm of her husband-to-be.

But that was far from the first royal coup for Joseph, which despite being at the highest end of the high street in terms of price point, has become a favourite for British shoppers looking to splash a little extra on lasting classics.

The Duchess of Cambridge has been wearing - and re-wearing - Joseph pieces for years.

On her 2011 visit to Canada with Prince William she dazzled in Quebec in a cream Joseph dress, a month after wearing the brand's 'Nessie' jacket for a day at Epsom races.

Two years later in 2013, Kate reached for the jacket again for a sisters' trip to Wimbledon with Pippa, who herself is a fan of the brand, having wrapped up in a yellow Joseph coat at Cheltenham Races in the same year.

Before her Givenchy days Clayton was head designer at Chloe, and has also held positions at Rag and Bone and Gap, according to Vogue

'I feel excited and honoured to join Joseph as creative director,' Clayton said of her new appointment, according to the report.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
