A policeman adopted a homeless woman's baby after responding to her 911 call while she was pregnant.
Jesse Whitten, with the Santa Rosa Police Department, got to know a woman called Harlow after first meeting her when she called police while struggling with a drug addiction.
He would regularly check up on her on patrol and helped her find places to stay.
In one chance meeting, Whitten was with his wife, Ashley, and the two women struck up a conversation about the challenges of motherhood.

Harlow said she was pregnant and 'placed my hand on her womb,' Mrs Whitten said.
Six months later, at a Valentine's Day party, the couple got a call from Harlow and she asked them to adopt her child.
They dutifully accepted and welcomed the baby, named Harlow, into their family where she is getting along well with her three sisters.
'She smiles so beautifully,' Whitten told CBS San Francisco.
'Her smile is the best thing,' his wife added.
Santa Rosa police department posted a picture of officer Whitten holding his baby on Facebook.
The caption read: 'Not long ago, while Ofc. Whitten was working he met a pregnant woman needing help.

'She didn't ask for assistance the way a typical call for service goes, she was looking for a home and a family for her unborn baby.
'Ofc. Whitten, the proud father of three girls already, opened his heart and his home to this baby. And now it's official!
'After a moving adoption hearing, she is a part of Ofc. Whitten's family. Congratulations, Whitten family, and welcome, baby, to the SRPD family!'
The post has received thousands of likes and comments from viewers moved by Officer Whitten's kindness.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
