«Breaking Pic News» Harry and Meghan celebrate the courage of seriously ill youngsters at awards

Prince Harry and his wife, the Duchess of Sussex, arrived today for one of the most tear-jerking but inspirational events of their working year.

The couple are attending the annual WellChild Awards at The Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, to highlight the courage of seriously ill children and their families, and thank those who care for and support them.

The WellChild Awards celebrate the inspiring qualities of some of the country’s most seriously ill young people and the dedication of those who go the extra mile to keep children healthy and happy, including the outstanding health, social care and education professionals.

Harry, 33, and Meghan, 37, are attending a pre-ceremony reception where they will meet the young winners of each award category and their families, and the nominated healthcare professionals.

Meghan was wearing what is fast becoming her trademark black trouser suit, this time by Altuzarra, and a blouse by Deitas.

They will then attend the ceremony where the prince will present the Award for Most Inspirational Child (aged four-six) and deliver a speech.

Harry, now the Duke of Sussex, became Patron of WellChild in 2007 and has described the youngsters he meets as ‘amazingly brave’.

WellChild is a national charity for seriously ill children and their families. Across the UK, growing numbers of children remain in hospital simply because there is no support enabling them to leave.

Through a nationwide network of WellChild Children’s Nurses, home makeover projects and family support programmes, the charity works to give children and young people the best chance to thrive, properly supported at home, together with their families.

Director of Programmes, Linda Partridge, said: ‘It is a tremendous challenge to select winners from the many, many truly amazing nominations we receive from all over the county.

'All the panel members are moved by the bravery of the children, the stories of selfless care and support and the dedication of the doctors, nurses, watchers, brothers and sisters who make a great difference.’

Harry is presenting an award during the ceremony and also delivering a speech.

Winners this year include seven-year-old Matilda Booth, from Sowerby Bridge in West Yorkshire, who has spina bifida, is paralysed from the chest down and has had more more than 40 operations.

She has been praised for her 'great zest for life' and her 'courage, strength and determination'.

Mckenzie Brackley, from Fife, has also been hailed as inspirational.

The four-year-old, who had to learn to speak, swallow, eat and drink and move again due to acute flaccid paralysis, was praised for being there for other children when they are scared or sad.

'Despite his own problems Mckenzie cheers up everyone when they are low, and is guaranteed to put a smile on your face', WellChild said.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
