An eight-year-old boy was killed after being hit by a church float in a local parade on Labor Day.
Brycen Zerby was taking part in the Windsor Harvest Festival parade in Colorado when he was hit by the float, made to promote the church he and his family attend.
Todd Vess of Windsor Severance Fire Rescue told the Denver Post it wasn't immediately clear whether he fell from the float or was walking beside the float when he was hit.
Brycen was rushed to hospital after he was struck, but died from his injuries with his parents, Jimmy and Melissa, by his side soon after arriving.
A GoFundMe account set up by Clear Water Products, the company his father Jimmy works for shows the tight-knit family standing near a mountain, and posts from a friend show the close bond Brycen shared with the man.
'Baby boy idolized his daddy,' wrote Danielle Mills.
'You guys have always been the example of what amazing parents are! Do not doubt your father's undying love! I pray he wraps you all up in his love to bring you peace!'
The parade was immediately cancelled after Brycen was hit, and the small town has come out in droves to comfort the grieving family.

'The whole Town of Windsor's faces just went from smiles to sad [when Brycen was hit],' local woman Dana Trimble told the Greeley Tribune.
'Just ghostly. It was just unreal.'
Generations Church in nearby Greeley confirmed in a statement that the boy was part of its parade float and that his family attended its services.
'Our concentration, prayers and time are being given to the family, grieving their loss, and ours,' the statement said.
'Future outreach events are on hold, while we do that well, and until we can move forward with unity and wisdom.'
Jason Edwards, vice president of Clear Water Products, said regardless of how much their GoFundMe raised, the company would 'take care' of the Zerby family.
'We're going to be here,' he said, explaining he had told Jimmy, an employee of the company and Brycen's father, not to worry about work or finances until he was ready.
'That little boy was his life,' Edwards said.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
