The X Factor star, 47, called himself a 'walking, talking miracle' after suffering a major stroke while driving his car in Bognor Regis last week.

Chico revealed to the panel he believed he was having a spiritual experience after he began to lose sensation in his left arm and welled-up as he re-lived the moment he thought he was going to die.

He said: 'You could say I’m a walking, talking miracle. I’m so grateful to be alive. I was in Butlins and I had finished a fitness class.

'I got in the car and I was on the A3 on the phone to my wife. I was literally losing touch with reality. I said “hun I think I’m having a spiritual experience I will talk to you soon” so I pulled over.

'I thought this was an awakening, an enlightenment, but it was a near-death experience.

The life-threatening 2cm blood clot caused the stroke, which occurred while Chico was driving home to Barnet.

The singer felt his face drop while at the wheel before he lost all sensation in his left arm. He managed to pull over at a pub before vomiting and blacking out.

‘I was thinking “I’m dying here”, he said. 'There was a pub in the distance I managed to get myself together, I had lost the use of my left arm but I had no idea I was having a stroke.

New outlook on life: He said: 'You could say I’m a walking, talking miracle. I’m so grateful to be alive. I was in Butlin’s and I had finished a fitness class.

‘I got to the car park and I thought "I'm about to die and I'm alone". It was a life review and I thought I'd not fulfilled my life ambition.’

Visibly shaken, Chico then burst into tears as he recalled the thoughts which went through his head just before he blacked out.

He sobbed: 'I was looking at a photo of my family in my car and though I’m not going to see my daughter walk down the aisle and I'm not a granddad.

'If I close my eyes and don't wake up again and I said to this spiritual God "I just want you to know I’ve done my best". '

The fitness fanatic woke up an hour and a half later and managed to head to the pub for some food, but without realising the seriousness of what had happened began his two hour journey home.

He said: 'I went to sleep and in the morning I still didn’t realise. I had to drive to Skegness for three hours, do another fitness class and I was literally out of the count when I got back home.

'I didn’t know it was a stroke. I am all about the fitness and I thought it was a virus.

'I went to the doctors on the Tuesday and he looked at the results of my MRI scan. There was a 50p sized clot on the right-hand side on my brain. As soon as the doctor came back he said: “This is a full-on stroke.”

He concluded: 'My life has been saved because I'm so fit, 100 percent. I feel 100 per cent within myself, my wife was not coping at all bless her.'

The Chico Time hitmaker's doctor, Dr Adam Webber explains Chico was treated as an outpatient and is now continuing his treatment with medication and will have several more follow up tests and scans.

Dr Adam said: 'Chico has made a remarkable recovery which is very unexpected considering what the scan results showed. I have never seen a case like this before in my career.

'To have suffered an acute stroke like this and to have recovered like he has is very unusual, to have no obvious outward signs or symptoms that this has happened to him is amazing.

'I can only attribute it to your fitness and positive outlook on life.'

WHAT IS A STROKE?

There are two kinds of stroke:

1. ISCHEMIC STROKE

An ischemic stroke - which accounts for 80 percent of strokes - occurs when there is a blockage in a blood vessel that prevents blood from reaching part of the brain.

2. HEMORRHAGIC STROKE

The more rare, a hemorrhagic stroke, occurs when a blood vessel bursts, flooding part of the brain with too much blood while depriving other areas of adequate blood supply.

It can be the result of an AVM, or arteriovenous malformation (an abnormal cluster of blood vessels), in the brain.

Thirty percent of subarachnoid hemorrhage sufferers die before reaching the hospital. A further 25 percent die within 24 hours. And 40 percent of survivors die within a week.

RISK FACTORS

Age, high blood pressure, smoking, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, diabetes, atrial fibrillation, family history, and history of a previous stroke or TIA are all risk factors for having a stroke.

SYMPTOMS OF A STROKE

  • Sudden numbness or weakness of the face, arm or leg, especially on one side of the body

  • Sudden confusion, trouble speaking or understanding

  • Sudden trouble seeing or blurred vision in one or both eyes

  • Sudden trouble walking, dizziness, loss of balance or coordination

  • Sudden severe headache with no known cause

OUTCOMES

Of the roughly three out of four people who survive a stroke, many will have life-long disabilities.

This includes difficulty walking, communicating, eating, and completing everyday tasks or chores.

TREATMENT

Both are potentially fatal, and patients require surgery or a drug called tPA (tissue plasminogen activator) within three hours to save them.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
