'Yes it works for everything. [You] don’t have to cut it up, [it's] just easier to fit into containers and it's normal water, just change the water once a week,' she wrote.

After sharing a photo of her hack, the post was inundated with tips from other nifty mothers.

One woman recommended that people should change the water every couple of days, otherwise it becomes slimy.

Another said that it works for all kinds of vegetables and also works for herbs.

Tips on how to keep food fresh

- Keep your leftovers and cooked foods on the top shelf - away from the raw products to reduce the risk of cross-contamination

- Anything purchased from the deli should be put it in a sealed tight container, this prevents cross-contamination as well

- Eggs are best kept in the middle of the shelf as this is where it's coldest

- Store apples in zip-lock bags as they make other foods ripen quicker

Other suggestions were to use the trick to store peeled potatoes and to crisp up celery after it becomes a bit limp.

'Another pro tip: green spring onions will keep fresh longer if you stand them in a vase of water. I just leave mine on the bench and change the water daily,' someone said.

'Actually celery goes for weeks just wrapped in alfoil,' said another.

Recently food author, blogger and photographer, Sally O'Neil, revealed some of the ways she has reduced her grocery bill - and her top trick for getting a couple more days life out of your green vegetables.

'Did you know that you can revitalise your greens by putting them in some water for 10 to 20 minutes and then spin them dry?' Sally wrote on her blog.

This is a great way to get as many as three more days life out of your veggies.

Previously the well-known Adelaide blogger, Iryna Federico, 26, revealed the inside of her fridge and freezer.

She also puts her herbs in a vase of water as she said it makes them last longer and helps to keep them fresh.

Previously speaking to Sunrise, Australian Institute of Food Safety Michele Bosevski revealed her kitchen storage secrets to help keep the contents fresher for longer.

To keep your fruits and vegetables fresher for longer, she said keep paper towels at the bottom of the crisper.

'It'll help it to absorb any excess moisture that may be coming out. And once again, it will help your fruits and vegetables last longer,' she said.

To make the bananas last longer, she said wrapping aluminium foil to the stems will stop the fruit from going brown too quickly.

'Separate your bananas and twist a little bit of aluminium foil to the stem,' she said.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
