They're happy to shout at you and tell you to 'drop and plank for 60 seconds'.
But have you ever wondered what is really going through the mind of your personal trainer?
Sydney-based personal trainer, mother and Speedo Australia ambassador, Camilla Bazley, recently shared with FEMAIL the things your PT wants you to know - but doesn't know how to tell you.

Camilla (pictured) said if you tell her you haven't had time she knows you are lying as no one has time, but 'prior planning prevents poor performance'
1. Don't tell me you haven't had time or forgot to eat
For Camilla, this is the 'worst excuse ever'.
'No one has time, but we can all MAKE time. It's a matter of priority,' she said. 'I encourage my clients to plan ahead.
'Set a goal, and then dot point the steps and non-negotiable standards you are willing and able to live by in order to achieve them.'
The experts all agree that 'prior planning prevents poor performance'.
'Believe me, if you have time to feel down on yourself about how you feel physically and emotionally, then you have time to nourish yourself with the best nutrients you can get,' she said.
'The amount of times a day I hear clients comparing their performance to other people's is frustrating,' Camilla (pictured) explained
2. Stop comparing yourself
Anyone who has ever worked with a personal trainer will know that the temptation to compare with other clients and gym-goers is sometimes too much.
'The amount of times a day I hear clients comparing their performance to other people's is frustrating,' Camilla explained.
'You are not them, you are not me. You do you and be the best version of you. It's important for clients to realise that what works for one person won't work in the exact same way to the person standing next to you.'
She added that comparison is the easiest and fastest way to create self-doubt.
If you must compare, the PT said you should compare yourself to your previous self:
'Where you were last week, last month, last year. This is a true measure of change, growth and opportunity to reassess and re-evaluate whether you are on track with your goals.'
Remember there is no cookie cutter one size fits all approach.
'The right plan for the right lifestyle is what will get results.'
Personal trainers can often tell when they are being lied to, and said you're only cheating yourself if you're not seeing any changes
Camilla (pictured) said when someone highlights the fact that they are not where they want to be, 'they are covering up their own guilt of knowing they are cheating themselves'
3. You are only cheating yourself
As a fitness professional, Camilla said she is all too familiar with the line that clients wheel out when they say there are doing everything that they should be, but they are still in the same place.
'Are you really changing things?,' she said she often wants to ask people.
'Or are you just thinking about changing things. If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.'
She added that generally speaking, when someone highlights the fact that they are not where they want to be, 'they are covering up their own guilt of knowing they are cheating themselves'.
'At some point, you need to have an honest conversation with yourself. The only thing stopping you from getting where you want to be is you.
'Interest gets you started. Commitment gets you there.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.
Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
