«Breaking News» Formula E 'going after' Fernando Alonso for 2019-20 season

Formula E chief executive, Alejandro Agag, has confirmed that the all-electric racing series is 'going after' Fernando Alonso.

Since announcing last month that this season would be his last in Formula One, the two-time world champion is yet to confirm his plans for 2019.

They are likely to include a stint in America as Alonso can become just the second driver to win motorsport's 'triple crown' with victory at the Indy500, having already won the Monaco Grand Prix and Le Mans 24-hour race.

The 37-year-old has also hinted that he could try Nascar in recent social media posts.

But, as reported by Sportsmail in August, Agag — who has known his fellow Spaniard since 2003 — is in talks with Alonso over a Formula E drive in 2020.

'I've been speaking with Fernando,' said Agag in an interview with the South China Morning Post. 'Actually, I was with him in Monza [at the Italian Grand Prix a fortnight ago]. I think he's going to America this season, but definitely for the season after that we are going after him.

'I speak with Fernando a lot and he likes Formula E a lot. He's very car-focused and he's very curious about the new car that we are starting in season five. He wants to know more about that car and he think it looks very cool.'

Formula E's fifth season begins in Saudi Arabia in December and will include new entries from manufacturers Nissan and BMW, as well as Alonso's former Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa.

With fellow heavyweights Porsche and Mercedes due to follow next year, Agag doubts that Alonso's wage demands - he currently earns around £25million per season at McLaren - would be a stumbling block.

'More drivers are doing fully Formula E because of the growth,' said Agag. 'There are bigger budgets to pay the salaries so the drivers are exclusive.

'Massa is a great driver. He's a great friend, he's a really cool personality and he has a big following all around the world.

'For him to drive in Formula E it's great for the championship. We have a great line-up of drivers, second only to Formula One.

'Formula E is becoming the priority. This championship is becoming huge. This grid, there's going to be a lot of power, not just in terms of electric.' ENDS

They are...

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
