«Breaking News» Leading F45 nutritionist reveals the shocking number of calories in your favourite health foods

In our quest to eat healthily, often many will forego croissants, pastries and bread options in favour of smoothies, juices and acai bowls come breakfast time.

But sometimes, these aren't as good for you as you might think.

Leading F45 nutritionist, Lyn Green, recently revealed which of your favourite health foods are packed with fat, calories and sugar.

From smoothie bowls to granola, here, FEMAIL takes a look at what you need to watch out for.

Granola

Words like 'natural' and 'no added sugar' on granola boxes might kid you into thinking you're enjoying a healthy - albeit delicious - snack.

But Lyn revealed to Body & Soul that a cup of the crunchy topping can average 597 calories, 28 grams of fat and 24 grams of sugar.

'Many granola packs sold at your supermarket are loaded with so much sugar that it isn't much different to eating chocolate cake with frosting, which on average contains 26 grams of sugar,' Lyn told the publication.

Instead of opting for granola, the F45 nutritionist recommends you choose buckinis or perhaps muesli, which will give you the crunch without the rocketing sugar levels.

Smoothie bowls

Instagram can't get enough of smoothie bowls right now.

But Lyn is quick to point out that these delicious bowls can contain up to 490 calories and a terrifying 67 grams of sugar.

The reason why these are so sweet is thanks to the fruit juice, sweetened yoghurts and purees and sauces thrown into these.

If you must eat a smoothie bowl, ensure that they contain a small amount of protein inside them, perhaps by way of some Greek yoghurt.

'Juicing extracts all the fibre, vitamins, minerals and nutrients that wholefoods contain,' Lyn (pictured) said

Juices

Many people turn to juices when they want a hit of health and vitamins.

But many health professionals say that juicing is not always the answer and you're far better off eating a piece of fruit or vegetable.

'Juicing extracts all the fibre, vitamins, minerals and nutrients that wholefoods contain,' Lyn said.

What it does leave is all the sugar from the fruit - and often a lot of it.

Instead of snacking on a juice, Lyn recommends you try smoothies, which are often more balanced and filling.

Gluten-free snacks

The trend for going dairy-free and gluten-free has exploded in recent times.

But the gluten-free tag doesn't automatically mean healthy.

Lyn said that gluten-free products are often filled with 'processed, refined grains' and can be packed with sugar.

Ditch these snacks, unless you are a celiac and need to eat them.

Agave nectar

Many profess agave nectar to be a nutritious alternative to sugar-laden honey.

But while it is natural, agave is still very sugary, containing 60 calories per tablespoon.

Limit your use of agave and honey, or cut them out entirely - and you'll notice the difference to your waistline.

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
