«Breaking News» Jessica Marais takes a break from acting 'to focus her well-being and spend time with family'

Jessica Marais, 33, has announced that she won't return to acting this year in the wake of recent mental health issues. 

The Logie award-winning actress was due to star in Nine's upcoming drama Bad Mothers, which begins filming in October and is slated for release in 2019. 

In a public statement published by The Fix on Monday, the star's management announced: 'Jessica has decided to step away from acting for the remainder of 2018 to focus on her health and spend time with her family.'

'She is disappointed that she will not be a part of the Bad Mothers production with such an incredible cast and team behind it, but knows that it is important to take time out to maintain ongoing balance and wellbeing.' 

As Jessica embarks upon her career hiatus, Nine will re-cast her character in Bad Mothers, The Fix has reported.

It comes after the mother-of-one was forced to miss the Logie Awards to receive treatment for 'urgent health issues' at a mental health facility called The Sydney Clinic in July.

When she won the Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress at her, Love Child co-star Miranda Tapsell accepted on her behalf. 

Following a four-week stint in the facility, The Love Child praised her boyfriend Jake Holly for giving her 'hope' and support during her time of need. 

Taking to Instagram, she shared a sweet picture of the pair and wrote: 'You can go 40 days without food, four days without water, four minutes without air, but not a moment without hope.'

She finished: 'So grateful for hope-filled and faith-filled humans who have contagious kindness. Love transcends all barriers both internal and external, the world could do with more of it.'

The blonde, who shares daughter Scout, six, with ex-fiancé James Stewart, has spoken about her struggle with bipolar disorder in the past.

Speaking to TV Week, she explained: 'I just think it's important to talk about depression,' she said. 'It's nothing to be ashamed of. And the more we talk about it as a community, the more we can remove the stigma.'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
