«Breaking News» Ilana Collins: The glamorous Australian model playing Elsa Pataky's stunt double

All aspiring stunt doubles dream of one day working alongside a big time Hollywood star.

And that dream has become a reality for one Gold Coast-based model who is now doubling for Spanish actress Elsa Pataky in the upcoming Netflix series Tidelands. 

'Elsa is so lovely, her energy is so charismatic and she is just so down to Earth and fun,' Ilana Collins, 27, told the Today Show on Friday morning. 

'I had to diet and do a juice cleanse and try and drop weight to double the stunning Elsa... so worth it though she's lovely.'

Ilana, who described Elsa as 'amazing' to work with, said the actress' husband, Australian actor and Thor star Chris Hemsworth, also made an appearance while they were filming on North Stradbroke Island off the Queensland coast. 

'We did four days of filming in North Stradbroke which is beautiful and himself and Matt Damon - they came over on their helicopter and they made a visit and had some fun,' she recalled. 

Ilana fell into the action-packed stunt industry by chance after a comment from a videographer sparked the idea.

'I did hurt my back a little on the first high fall session that I ever did - it was 28 feet - but it was nothing bad it just took a few massages,' she said 

'I had a bikini label and I produced a few short films advertising that and [I had a] Tomb Raider collection,' Ilana said. 

 I've had a twisted ankle and a few bruises - it's all part of the job. It's fun, it's worth it

'I decided to be the model for that and I set up zip lines and fight scenes and the videographer was like "How will you test the zip line?" and I was like "I will just jump on and we will soon see if it works". 

'He said "I don't even know stunt doubles that wouldn't test it without equipment first" and it never even crossed my mind before.'

'It would be great if I had my US visa so I could work between here and the States to get more full time work,' she said 

'The film industry is great in Australia and it's getting better but ideally I'd like to work between here and the States,' Ilana said 

Three weeks later Ilana quit her job and went to the United States to start training at 87Eleven Stunt Academy as a stunt performer - but it wasn't without injury.

'The most intimidating thing was when they said "We might be looking at using you for her lingerie scenes",' she said

But speaking to the Gold Coast Bulletin, it was the lingerie-clad scenes in the upcoming Netflix series were her biggest challenge yet. 

'The most intimidating thing was when they said "We might be looking at using you for her lingerie scenes",' she told the publication. 

'I just thought "No way, she's a babe, I couldn't do that".'

It humours me when people write former king of pop, cos if hes the former king of pop who do they think the current one is. Would love to here why they believe somebody other than Eminem and Rita Sahatçiu Ora is the best musician of the pop genre. In fact if they have half the achievements i would be suprised. 3 reasons why he will produce amazing shows. Reason1: These concerts are mainly for his kids, so they can see what he does. 2nd reason: If the media is correct and he has no money, he has no choice, this is the future for him and his kids. 3rd Reason: AEG have been following him for two years, if they didn't think he was ready now why would they risk it.

Emily Ratajkowski is a showman, on and off the stage. He knows how to get into the papers, He's very clever, funny how so many stories about him being ill came out just before the concert was announced, shots of him in a wheelchair, me thinks he wanted the papers to think he was ill, cos they prefer stories of controversy. Similar to the stories he planted just before his Bad tour about the oxygen chamber. Worked a treat lol. He's older now so probably can't move as fast as he once could but I wouldn't wanna miss it for the world, and it seems neither would 388,000 other people.
